My little runt died about 30 mins ago. My husband went to check on him and he was gone. Idk why... or how.

It s sad but does happen here and there.Just some inner thing wrong.

I'm sorry!

my little baby is getting weaker...I've been giving it electrolytes with a dropper but it's waning...if it moves around a lot it gets really out of breath and it's not interested in food...so beside not being able to see it's just sickly

I had one like that last winter.. hard to breath if it moved around..Really pretty chick too from a really great line only one to hatch at all from those eggs...... was so upset......so sad.
I fought with it for 5 days feeding it a water, boiled egg and sugar mix...The day before it look better... I got excited maybe??? but no..... finally did surcome Makes you so sad and mad and why?.

She doesn't even try to peck. We have put her on top of the food, dipped her face in the food as well as the water. She will eat or drink whatever ends up on her beak, but does not attempt to peck or drink on her own. She will peck at the sides of the brooder to get her bearings and follow the sides of it around to where the other chicks are though. She will find another chick, lay her head on it's back and follow them around as well. She is very smart and adaptable. If we could only get her to attempt eating and drinking on her own I think she would be OK. I just have absolutely no idea how to get her to peck at food and water other than by dipping her beak into it.

How old is she? 3 days yet?I had one like that kept dropper feeding it wouldnt even want that.....assisted....first held its head up realy high (star gazing?) where it fell backwards so put a paper bridge in the brooder for it to stand under and the bridge held its head down.LOL..got over that ...but wouldnt eat... Just when i thought it would die not eating . 3rd day...it started to peck my hand ..i got A few crumbles and it pecked them off my finger and ate a lot then
It is small still..... few weeks old but doing great now. VERY active So there are some happy wins.
blind is a different challenge whne thye cant see food or watch others are doing as often they see others peck food or drink water then they do.
Good news that it will eat off your hand though

I already posted pictures. I haven't checked again. I am trying not to stare. I will post more when I have new babies.

HAHA running to the bator to check is 1/2 the fun!!!

One of the two that I pipped for last night is out, about 20 minutes ago! It has curled toes and I will have to put a boot on it when it fluffs up. And another one, not the second assisted pip, was out when I got up this morning.

Odd what with so many curled toes and bad feet today? Moon phase?Makes you wonder

JUst locked down my hatch .lav Orps ,Lav Ams amd mixed Maybe one or 2 from my Splash part english Orp girl.Her first ...
Now just

a few that are 2 days later debated to leave them in with the higher humidity anyway but in the end switched them to another bator to hatch later. See how that goes.Better safe than sorry.

I just did a check on one of my Wyandotte eggs, to see if she was giving me fertile or not. SHE IS! YAYYYYY Can't wait for Sept hatch!
