Well, my USPS insurance claim on my smashed shipped eggs says its been approved - so now just to see if I get a check or what?? I don't know yet if any will actually develop much less survive. But I will keep hoping. Only on day 3 I think.

How old is she? 3 days yet?I had one like that kept dropper feeding it wouldnt even want that.....assisted....first held its head up realy high (star gazing?) where it fell backwards so put a paper bridge in the brooder for it to stand under and the bridge held its head down.LOL..got over that ...but wouldnt eat... Just when i thought it would die not eating . 3rd day...it started to peck my hand ..i got A few crumbles and it pecked them off my finger and ate a lot then
It is small still..... few weeks old but doing great now. VERY active So there are some happy wins.
blind is a different challenge whne thye cant see food or watch others are doing as often they see others peck food or drink water then they do.
Good news that it will eat off your hand though

this is one I got from you...the hers are thriving
Sometimes chicks just don't thrive. I had 2 of my silkie chicks die on day 3 for no explainable reason...they just did not thrive. I had one more that looked like she was going to die by morning (her day 4 or 5): not interested in drinking or eating, weak when standing, hanging her head down, smaller than the others because she wasn't eating like they were, therefore not growing. I added electrolytes to the water one more day (had only given it to them the first three days. She was alive the next morning to my surprise and was much perkier. They are almost 2 weeks old now and although she is still smaller than the others, she is doing just fine. So sometimes the lack of thriving is just so random
it's not uncommon! I always hate it but I'm accustom to the reality that it happens...I'll get pictures of our other little dolls all blue and fluffy to post, I've just been so busy....it's like we're chicken related![]()
welcome to the world little one!
she' s frizzled something! I LOVE FRIZZLESThis is a the mystery chick that hatched 2 weeks ago. Her wings are so cute and sooo big. They are so much bigger than she is. I'm still wondering what she is. I forgot what you guys thought she was. Possibilities are Sebright, Serama, D'uccle, Cochin, Frizzle, Silkie. Obviously not silkie. But could be a mix of any of these. Her wings actually are larger than they appear in the pictures. Maybe a frizzle Serama? She is still very tiny.
