August Hatch-A-Long!

So here is how my August hatch is wrapping up:

3 Barred Rock Chicks hatched and the other 3 died before hatching from pipping a vein or being breech. One chick may have curled toes - waiting to see.

Candled my shipped Blue Breda eggs. Of the original 18 - 11 are still in the bator. 9 had clear wiggly chicks tonight on day 12 and 2 were questionable. I will be putting them into lockdown early in 4 days and will determine if those 2 indeed get tossed.

Candled my 12 hand delivered eggs. I appear to have one clear Partridge Penedesenca egg, one that looks like it stopped growing, and one Ameraucana that also looks like it has stopped. That leaves me with 1 Crested Cream Legbar, 5 Partridge Penedesencas, and 3 Ameraucanas on day 8 that still look good.

Of my mutt eggs it looks like I have blood rings in all of the White Leghorn eggs. I was told to expect that since they are just beginning to lay - but I did confirm that they are at least fertile. So that is something. The Marans eggs are too dark to see anything except the air cell so who knows with them.

And... my super precious Sweet Potato Quechua and Colloncas smashed shipped eggs are only on day 4 so no idea there, though my hopes are next to zero.

My august hatch came out OK. 9 healthy EE mixes. All came out dark brown or black with gold streaks on head and muffs. 1 golden sebright bantam, still have 4 in the bator. Will be setting 24 golden sebrigts for September hatch.

Help!!! My second cochin egg has piped in the middle of the egg!! Maybe 10-15 minutes ago. Is there anything I can do to help it now or do I need to wait? I hope it isn't bleeding in there!

Today is day 11 for my lavender and porcelain silkies. I candled and 3 had veining and movement while 3 others had blood rings and 1 had this after I cracked it open. What is it?

I finally received my last shipped eggs. I hope I have the will power to not order anymore. It's just too disappointing when they don't hatch.
The ones I pick up today are 7 Isbar and 24 Salmon Faverolle eggs. I am picking up 3 more Red Golden Pheasant and 5 Red Bourbon Turkey and 2 Guinea chicks, since my eggs all died. I bought 3 Red Golden Pheasant eggs from him before. They have been in the incubator for 6 days but they are still clear. I hope they are ok.

I am going to try and quit after all of this until mine start laying. Yeah, right.

Whenever I'm not sure what to do while incubating, I go with what is closest to what a hen does. I always wondered how the chicken increases the humidity. Ha, someone finally told me. My friends huband had chickens when he was litte. He said they put their butts in puddles. For some reason this made me laugh but at least I know.
