August Hatch-A-Long!

Day 21 Finally arrived, getting kinda worried after the heat and Hum problems day 3-6. put 49 into lockdown. No movement . shouldn't at least a few be rolling around a little?

On Day 21 I had nothing, no movement, no pips, nothing! I went car shopping with the hubby because I had doubts that any would hatch since my previous ones hatched on day 20. Well, late last night on day 22 (or 23 depending on how you count it) two hatched and a 3rd is zipping. So don't give up on them yet.

It appears to have 5 toes, however one toe on one foot has an extra nail ??? What is THAT? OMG I'm soo mad right now. He's FOS. I know I'm new to all this but I know that THAT bird is not a purebred silkie. What am I going to do with this bird? I don't want it.

Someone might want it for a pet. Advertise him/her as a Silkie mix, great for a pet, on Craigslist...someone might just love to have him/her.

Well, it's been another 24+ hr.s and no noticeable movement, and no peeping. The other chicks,( placed in the incubator the same time), are now 3 and 4 days old! I don't see how his one could have enough yolk to sustain it. But I'm leaving it alone
until I get home Monday evening. Has anyone ever had an egg survive in this condition before?
I'm so glad that others in this group seem to be having a good percentage of luck. Yeah!

I have a hen who is broody. That, like everything else about chickens, is new for me. So I'll be here! Counting the days with ya!

excited nervous its a stressful time for sure.Wear a hole in the floor back and forth to the bator.But if you get a few chicks well worth it.

Just went into lockdown I candled one egg that felt very light and was only half full I took it out and opened it not fertile (very porous egg) so now there are 29 in lockdown I think a few more are no good but they were heavier and I didn't want to take a chance I hurt a baby so I left them in. Fingers crossed

I have some hatch. my first hatch I will be happy if even one hatches lol I know there are some good ones that are full and I see movement I will be a nervous wreck this weekend

Holy smokes the guy just went OFF on me bc I said I've seen pics of other breeders 6 mo old lavender silkies and it looks nothing like them. It doesn't have blue ears or black skin. and that I was very upset about it. And he went off on me!. I am completely dumbfounded.

I'm sorry but as I recall you mentioned it not having black skin right? And he wants to have an attitude? No way! He has to know that he didn't give you just what he said or he wouldn't habe reacted that way. You were right to call and let him know that the chicken is not correct! So sorry he was rude about it
