August Hatch-A-Long

Good morning! The air cells will often be off center.. Especially as time goes on. But this one was completely on the side of the egg. It's just so weird. I wouldn't be surprised if they were shipped eggs or if I had bought them. I would just assume that someone left it laying down for a long time. These came from my flock though and I know they were stored correctly. Hmm. Actually, now that I'm thinking about it again.. I DID have an egg that sat out on the counter for awhile... It wasn't supposed to go in the incubator, but maybe someone stuck that egg in there when I wasn't looking. I feel silly for not thinking of that sooner.
Thank you....when i get to look at the eggs again at least I will have an idea...lol

I cracked an egg while turning tonight :/ I dropped an egg onto another egg and the one on the bottom got the worst of it. It didn't break the membrane, just put a spider web shaped crack in the shell. Its way too big to seal up. I'm just letting it go for now to see if it can still make it :barnie

Oh....The adventures of Crackle! I have never tried to hatch a cracked egg so unfortunately I can't help there

Curious to watch this egg as it develops though!

For lockdown, I keep my bator at 100 and humidity around 70% it will go up as chicks hatch but that is normal.

I have bantam eggs and am following the regular day 18 for lockdown so I hope that is correct

If anyone with more experience knows or thinks different...please let us know

Thanks so, so much for help with the incubator, CaliChicken! I still think it'll be safest to put Crackle in there from lockdown and help it unzip. Lets hope that Day 18 for lockdown is right. I'm about to candle my 8 eggs at day 14, so hoping for the best!! I'm feeling like an expectant mum again, lol! Exciting!!

I have 4 that are going strong(2 in my bator and 2 under my broody), 2 that are still questionable(1 in my bator and 1 under my broody) and 5 that are definitely not developing

So looks like I may have 3 for each hatch date

I am in... I had 2 broodies in July and one incubator hatch. I just bought an incubator!! So, I am Egg crazy. I have 9 shipped BCM, 9 shipped Colored Eggs, 8 shipped legbars. Also, have filled some space with my own Orpington Eggs. :) They were set staggered as I have an old incubator to use as a hatcher. First batch was set July 27th! :)

Sooo exciting!!
I too just candled, and still have 8/8 babies going strong on day 14! They're running out of room in there now, but I saw some little movements and great veins.
