It works for chicken eggs also : ) I made my own incubator too! For my first two hatches I had it on a dimmer switch, it was pretty intense! Now I have a "temperature controller" thermostat from ebay for $14, and I love it!!!! I can find you the link if you want... there are a couple that ship from California so they don't take as long as international.

we are at 100* right now, I am using a 20 watt. and yes a link would be lovely Would be great if it would do it on its own. I'm so worried about baking the poor babies!

With just the dimmer I found I could control the temp but it was hard with the house cooling down at night and heating up during the day and that was Spring/early Summer. I had to put a towel on it at night and it would still get down to 97, better lower than higher though.

Well, today I candled the Cream Brabanter eggs that have been in the incubator for 6 days now... all 12 of them are clear

.... **** shipped eggs! While I was doing it, I went ahead and looked at the Buckeye eggs again and most of them are doing well, but a couple of them may have quit.

I'm very new at this but I think I would give your day 6 eggs a few more days before counting them out. Some of mine I couldn't tell to day 10.

Very sad...my broody Peeps baby died

I have no idea what happened. Last night, mom and baby were great...baby was eating and drinking. The only thing I did not see was baby poop but since my broody was caring for her I wasn't really looking. Now my hen is soooooo lost. I cleared the nest and broody area completely although I od think she realized baby died because she went outside to dust and hasn't done that since the day before baby hatched. Saddest day ever and watching my girl is just breaking my heart!

I'm sooooo sorry to hear this. I feel so bad for you and your broody. I hope your other eggs hatch!

Since our Duck stopped sitting on her eggs we have decided to incubate, I have been dong research about humidity and temp and am gettign different answers. Humidity I got 40-50% first 18 days, then 60-65% until hatch. from one place then 50-65% first 18 days, then 80-85% until they hatch on another. What do you use? I just set everything up and right now it's reading 99* and 41%.

I'm new at this but from everyone I talk to and read, the humidity should be around 40 to 50 until day 18 and then close to 70. The temp on still air should be 100 to 101 You sound like yours is ok as long as the temp doesn't get to high. Also from what I'm experiencing, when you candle the eggs if your air sacs are too big then raise your humidity and if they are too small then lower the humidity, that is for the days before lockdown. So much fun! lol

I bought that controller but I haven't installed it yet.

I have 2 of these but they haven't been very reliable for me.

If it stays at 102 you could try a bigger vent.

We are going to try the dry method. no added water unless humidity reaches below 30%. We also got it steady temp at 100-101, which is perfect for still air incubators. I am adding the eggs tonight, We are doing a small batch, 5 eggs. I will be happy if 1 hatches.

Is it too late to hop on the wagon? I'm setting some blue barnevelder eggs tonight. Gonna try the dry hatch method as well. Here's hoping for a good hatch!
