LOL So glad all are doing good! I think I cursed my bator saying the temp was so great last hatch! Its been ranging 4 degrees according to the digital therm.

Not sure whats the problem. Everything is the same, but I'm not going to stress over it to much. Not a lot I can do but keep watching it and see how the eggs candle on thursday. Glad you got the humidity down! Hope all the rest do great for you!

Glad you are not stressing over it... it does seem like once you've got something figured out... something different will pop up!

Three chicks in the brooder doing great and then I lost one in the egg last night... he pipped the wrong end... 5/5 were all malpositioned so I am happy I saved 4! This one last night was just really weak... poor baby. The last one is due in the next couple of days and then I wait for the next batch. I already have another 5 eggs from my hen that I am sure I won't be able to keep out of the bator... just waiting on one more for an even half dozen.

I notice I get a little attached to threads... and don't really want to move on just because the month is changing : ) I guess we can hang out here as long as we want right!?

this is a silly question but at lockdown..what position should the egg be in? air sac up, in a egg carton? or just laying on the side?

You can do what you want... many people hatch upright, especially if they have shipped eggs and/or have incubated upright. I incubate eggs on their side unless they have wierd air cells and so I hatch eggs on their side.

About an hour till day 21 and still no cheering or pips.. I'm getting worried. I decided to wait to raise the humidity as some recommended until after I was the first pip but now I'm thinking I may need to raise it. Maybe that'll help activity? It's driving me bonkers my two thermometers are so far off

They shouldn't smell funky unless they're growing bacteria. My broody is all done hatching her eggs, 6/6! They look to be 2 blues, 2 blacks and 2 splash- what are the odds!?!? Silkie babies are so cute it should be a crime :jumpy That little black in the back just cracks me up, it has a huge vault :lau I've had a black rooster over blue and splash hens for a long time (which means no splash chicks), so these were an awesome surprise! This means either my Sizzle rooster is blue instead of black or my blue cockerel has finally started breeding (I'm secretly hoping for splash Sizzles :fl ). And, my incubator eggs have started rocking, they're due the day after tomorrow. YAY!
Those are to be some of the cutest chicks I've ever seen ever! I want them! How stinking cute!!

Lock down has officially begun. We have humidity at 55-60% we've had humidity around 35 for first 18 days. We are doing the dry method, only added water of it went below 30%. Is 55% good for last 3 days?

I don't see why we can't stay! I'm so happy you saved the 4!! Sorry about the 1 loss but I know they don't all make it. I think my temp is finally doing right! Only 2 days till candle day 7!!
