August Mystery Egg Swap . . . . . Sign Ups Open!!!!

Dang, I hate when that happens! Sock the vitamins to it, maybe you can save it. I started adding minerals to my flock's diet to try and prevent that. I have silver laced Wyandottes, Speckled Sussex and Buff Orps hatching. Yay, I almost forgot how much fun it is to find them out there in theorning! I have my bators up on stands now, so hopefully no more snakes will get in there to snack on chicks and eggs :p

Jim,

All three guinea eggs hatched

One hatched yesterday afternoon and the other two this afternoon. They really want out of the incubator. What do I feed the little keets? Regular chick feed or my gamebird grower feed? I am assuming they need to be separate from the chicks because of disease - is that right?

I've always kept mine with the chicks getting chick starter. I've never had a problem. They grow a lot faster than the chicks and can fly earlier. Good luck.

I've hatched out buttons and I mean as soon as they pop out of their egg they're rushing around the incubator trying to get out!

Mine also liked to go under the shavings!! I would go in my room to check on the bumbles and I would be like "OMG! There is only 2! There is supposed to be 5!!

" I would see something moving under the shavings and sure enough..there they are snuggled up under the shavings!!

At 2 weeks old we have moved up to planning an escape from the brooder. My singleton is now renamed Stewie...

Yep, after about a week they start trying to "take off" and I put a wire screwn over the brooder.

Is the last set of eggs you got developing at all? The ones that included duck eggs?

none of the duck eggs seem to be developing.. I do have some light brown eggs hatching.. the first chick was yellow.. I have some darker eggs with one pip.. not sure what kind they might be.. so we will be watching the incubator all day...lol

Hmmm The darker eggs that came with the duck eggs are all the same kind with the exception of one. Sorry about the duck eggs.
