August/September 2013 homemade ornament swap

My garden was a major flop this year because it ended up under water 3 times and it finally got washed a way. I can say I got 4 cherry tomatoes. I have green large toms on the vines but they don't seem to want to turn, oh well next year. this is the first year that I have not canned anything from the garden.

Kat, we didn't have a garden last year..... planted one this year, it rained and rained some more. We had hail, the corn got knocked over 3 times from wind. We are very lucky we even got anything from our garden

Ohh... this is my first year for corn, it was/is like 7 ft tall, but just today the storm knocked it over :( Will it stand back up? Do i need to do something to fix it?

yep go stand your corn back up, and put more dirt around the roots, one of the joys of growing corn, but I don't see farmers standing up their corn so how do they get by?

Most of the time it will stand back up on it's own. Last time ours got knocked down it broke a few stalks and then it was too tall to stand back up. Good luck with your corn..... only stand it back up if it is young. Other wise leave it alone

Thanks all! I'll get out there and try to stand it back up today ... we get terrible winds here so it'll probably get knocked down again :( There are corn fields to the north of us and behind our house and it's true their corn never falls. I'd consider 'borrowing' a few cobs from them but theirs is feed corn ...lol

I have a few days off from work (don't have to go back 'til Wednesday), hoping to at least get those ornaments started :)

I haven't seen anyone on line in a while. I sure hope everyone is doing ok. Our canning season is done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank goodness!!!!!
Now it's time to work on a few crafts.... a baby blanket and hat for my brand new niece born Tuesday :D and the ornaments for our swap!!!! Happy crafting everyone!

Ok can now finish my thought, DH called so I had to talk to him. I have my ornaments finished just waiting on the final list. I have been busy trying to build a coop, I think it will be very functional and am trying to make it pretty, now having said that I have never built anything before, my husband says it will be a great club house when I'm done. Our area floods so my coop is 36 inches off the ground, yeah if that doesn't keep their feet dry nothing will

. I'm using reclaimed wood and pallets and I have quilt blocks that are being made for a swap coming due in Oct. One one more ornament swap after this one for the year. Has this year flown by or what.
