Augusta Maine Sept 10th and 11th TSC (post swap feedback needed)

I went through my growing out pens and I have decided I will bring probably 1 sizzle, an actual curly feathered chick. It has all have correct toes and the correct comb. Update:
the one I am bringing is blueish with some light tan in the hackles and on the wings. this is the mom. the ideal way to breed these is breed this chick to a silkie and you will get some silkies, some sizzles and some smooth like mini polish

I am also bringing 2 black ones that looks like a silkie but has slightly kinky feathers (it technically is a sizzle) and one white pure 100% silkie.
the wyandottes are 2 splash cockerals and 1 white pullet

I have one thing to add for you newbies. I can't believe after all this time, I had this happen, don't let it happen to you.
here is the scenario: you arrive at the swap, someone comes over soon after you set up and wants to buy some birds but alas, they have to sell some of their own birds first- could you hold these birds (prime birds- not your extra roosters) until they have enough money- after they sell some of their birds. you set them aside and later in the swap you notice you still have the birds, this person has gone home or they changed their minds and didn't tell you.
now you have lost the sale of those birds to people that wanted to purchase them but they were "sold without payment" and the potential buyers have left and now you are taking them home with you.

I knew the person that did this to me today (which is why I let it happened) and this just reinforces the no money, no hold policy.
I'll be at the swap tomorrow and hopefully sell them.

And here is the swap update for today- swap continues as a poultry/small animal swap tomorrow.
lots of guineas large and small, lots of chickens and rabbits, but not much for other animals. 1 goat, some pheasants and 1 crafter (with chickens and giant pig ears for dogs) .
I heard quite a few are returning for tomorrow and the pig ears will be joined by a few antler dog treats- get those early- limited number available- very long lasting chew(and I should know, I have a mastiff)

I just wanted to say it was nice to see a few new faces as swappers yesterday. The next swap is kind of up in the air. I need some feedback here. last yr the swaps continued into Nov. Our next swap should be Oct 2nd (staying with the request of a sunday swap) which is the date for the local poultry show (with a sales area). if we skip and go to the next sun, it's oct 9th. so give me your feedback if you want another swap and the date. I can set it up for those that want to. There is usually space available to set up at windsor but 2 things, you either must be a member of the central maine bird fanciers to sell or have a bird entered in the show and there is a set up fee. generally lots of buyers/ exhibitors, very good quality stock and end of season sales on a few. if you sell items other then birds, you can come as well but still must be a member (don't worry, it's not expensive and we are a fun group of people to hang out with). Generally there is a food cart with hamburgers/ hotdogs etc on the grounds.

Just a thought hoppy. Whereas it is getting closer to the end of the year and I know people have lots of nice birds that need to be placed before snow, do two swaps for Oct.? One on Saturday and one on Sunday, with my work I can no longer do Sundays and we planned to travel to Sanford for their swap (we love the group there, just a long ways), cause there is nothing left for this area on Saturday. Just a thought...

Hi Hoppy - I'm bringing my birds for sale to the Central Maine Bird Fanciers Show (Windsor Fairgrounds) which I believe is October 2nd - the first Sunday of October.

I have to be there all day with my show birds so I might as well haul birds for sale as well. I will be selling some young d'Uccles (self blue, white & mille fleur), bantam cochin pullets (buff & red), a splash bantam cochin cockerel and whatever I don't sell at the Farmington Fair.

I will have birds for sale at the end of the Farmington Fair Poultry show, which ends on Sept 24th - . I'll have a booted mille fleur bantam pair, a blue bantam cochin cockerel, a porcelain d'Uccle pair, a white d'Uccle cockerel and a gorgeous pair of white show quality cochins for sale after we coop out around 5 pm that day.

I'm done with TSC swaps for the year.
