Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

She is getting up and scratching, the little one just stands there or tries to cuddle up to the older chicks.

Lizzy has me baffled. There is something definitely wrong with the chick but she is so caring of it when so many other mothers just worry about the healthy chicks. Or even kill the ones with something wrong. Keep up the good work.

He is so ugly that he's gorgeous!!! You are lucky. Don't let the chooks get him.
Lols MyHaven .. more like don't let HIM get the chooks!
I have 2 Bantams and 2 x 3 month old Silkies who I reckon would run away from him!
Apparently with the help of a very long tree branch Hubby has relocated 'Mr Uuuugly Bug' to the tree out the front

Well they have big culls now on roos as they are just taking over.
Is it really that bad in SA??

YES! It does have a rather odd cooking smell.

I can't really speak for now. But in the past, one processor who self proclaimed to be the state leader, was showing their processing plant off to AQIS and industry when the government was amending legislation and they displayed appalling handling techniques and were proud of it. The scary part was they did not recognise how bad they were and they were acting inside their states requirements. In fairness to them the state requirements differed to other states - ie at that time they were permitted to process in that way.

They;
Had bad dressing practice maximising cross contamination, removed heads etc exposing flesh to contamination
Had bad transport practice, flat stacked carcasses so that dirt, dried blood and fur fell into the dressed chest cavity and smothered open meat. This also meant air couldn't circulate around the carcass for cooling.

When they were demonstrating their "superior" game handling skills their staff walked over a load of flat stacked carcasses while unloading. Those same people are still processing and consider themselves leaders.

Would you like me to go on? I have said too much already.

On the other hand there was and is other states with higher standards or better still the export approved plants that produce clean wholesome meat.

Kangaroo meat is amongst the healthiest meat you can eat - particularly if you need high protein or have heart issues like angina.

Yes it does have a different smell. But it's great pickled.

There are more roos here now than there were before white men started putting in damns and crops and nearly wiped out their only animal predator the dingo.

And I'd rather be a roo happily hopping about, seeing a bright light and not knowing I was dead than those poor cattle and other livestock who are mustered, yarded, trucked, yarded again and driven to the slaughter floor over a few days.

Yep, I'm not a greeny.

Give me a minute while I climb down off this high horse.

Cheers

I'm glad the chooks didn't get him. And glad your hubby replicated him.

Get would have made a nice pet to sit on your shoulder.

Good morning folks :) Remember how we were chatting about bugs yesterday? Our car got wheel clamped overnight .............. Today is one day I am very happy I catch the bus .. this fella is Hubby's problem :)
wow he is beautiful. I would have moved him for you to a tree out the front of my house. Not sure hubby would approve though.

Had a little trip to the doctors this morning... I have been telling hubby for years my job is more dangerous than his lol (he is a panelbeater ). Well.. I was steam mopping yesterday arvo and went to hang the mop up on the wall when i was finished and i obviously did not hang it up right and it fell and crack me on the foot.. So i am now sporting a rather black looking toe with two small breaks in it ..... Only me.... lol.. I am known as a klutz but i usually don't cause myself injuries so this is a new one for me... Wonder if it will get me out of mopping again.... Probably not ..
