Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

I think you can eat them Megan. I would only not eat them if they where deformed inside or out in anyway.
I have only heard that you are not supposed to hatch new layers eggs as they can sometimes come out deformed.

Oh d a m n :( we just threw out 22 eggs

they have done a great job!
And none have made it to the frypan yet as we can't eat the first week of eggs??? Every poultry place and vet said never eat the first week of eggs!
First I have heard of that. I was told to break them in a glass to make sure meals were not wrecked if any had blood spots. We blew out our first blue egg and first brown egg and kept them, the rest the family ate poached on toast.

I think that is a size thing. I was warned off hatching eggs that were smaller than normal, or too large as it can complicate the hatch. One breeder gave the number of larger that 50g for pullet eggs to hatch, but that is a guide I guess as our Araucana eggs are still only about that size. Saying that, I did have a cross breed egg that had wry tail from a pullet last hatch.

Y
you only don't eat them if they have been wormed or on antibiotic or other medication. Otherwise we ate ours no prob like Lucas said

Thats how I would look at it too.

Even if you don't, you can scramble or boil them and feed them back to the flock. I give my shells back to our flock instead of oyster shell. If we end up with a few spare eggs I boil them as a treat, just make sure they don't look like eggs when they get them back.
