Ok guys, may be in the wrong thread, but no harm in asking
I desperately want to remodel the coop for the girls. Coop was repurposed from what I suspect was an old existing shed. My husband enclosed it with bracing and chicken wire (as you can see from the pic). We bought freestanding nest boxes from the local flea market and I fashioned a ramp up to the shelving from an old piece of MDF board (I think???) wrapped with offcuts of plastic coated chainwire fencing.
As you can see, it's not pretty to look at at all, but it is doing its job at the moment. However, it is by no means vermin proof (having seen a couple of rats in it lately, yuck!), the roofing needs replacing and I just want it to be a bit more functional and aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
Ideally I'd like to make some nestboxes on the outside of the coop, so I don't have to physically go into the coop to collect eggs. I'd also like to do away with those plastic green and opaque feeders and waters for something more functional from the outside as well.
This is what the outside of the coop looks like now:

As you can see, the front of the coop itself is chipboard, and when it gets wet, more and more is falling away, creating holes. I want to pull the chipboard down, but I don't know what I should do from there to build it up again. Structurally, it's great, just the inside is horrible and ugly to me. That, and not very functional.
This is a rough idea of what it looks like inside:

Anyone got any ideas for me? I'm not too creative in the design phase, but I can be pretty handy fixing things up.
