The difference a week makes. My two week old marans and my week old marans out for a day on the grass :)

My chooks with yogourty beaks.

I'll never be able to work out how they lick the bowl clean. You can also see that their combs have started pinking up and the Austrolorps have the beginnings of wattles. 10 weeks down & a few more to go before EGGS.

Had my neighbour give me two more diamond doves early last week, So I had 4 hopefully they would breed. Yesterday morning went out and a butcher bird had killed one. They are such nasty animals those butcher birds.
Indeed they are! I had one try and swoop to get one of the chicks while they had some grass time over the weekend, nasty things.

Coop renos were started as well over the weekend. All gutted out

Will post another pic tomorrow of what we did - It's not finished yet by a long shot.

In other news, I think the only DB Rock that hatched is a roo

it has thick legs, slow to feather and already has a comb.

There are several 16 year old boys with them and she took a pic of one of them kneeling by the grave of a 16 year old boy killed in the battle at Ypres . The head stone read
" a soldier of the Great War - known only to god.
Ugh that is so sad, to not know who that boy is. Breaks my heart.
There isn't a day that goes by where I don't think of all who sacrificed so much during the wars.

My grandfather fought in the WWII for Poland; he flew fighter planes.

adorable! I might have to get some marans eggs off you one day to hatch, Satay, if you sell them. I'll be hatching out some Favs come Spring time too.

I've wondered that too - somehow they 'peck' the bowl clean.
