Hi I'm sorry if this has been posted before or in the wrong place but with a 1yr old at my feet time is the essence. What product is best used in Australia that is readily available to treat mites? Also do they live in the grass area around the coop or just the coop and the chickens? I feel sickly just thinking if these little critters. I clean the coop daily and may miss a day here and there but mostly daily and change bedding weekly to fortnightly. Am I not doing something right? One of the pet shops sells aristo pet bird mite and lice spray? Is this safe for them. Any suggestions would be great. Again sorry if this a repeat question. New to chickens but learning slowly.
for my ignorance but is this like something you can use on cats and dogs or specific for chickens. Just when you say spot on I immediately thought of those revolutions drops for my catI also use spot-on ivermectin for mites and lice as well with success. I once found mites all in my nesting boxes, but a good thorough clean out, spray with bug spray and spot-on ivermectin on the girls cleared them right out.

I uses the spot on but my girl hasn't laid since hatching her clutch in January ( when I used it for mites) no mite now but no eggs yet either I'm hoping she will lay after winter as she just finished a big moult tooIt's not labelled for chickens which essentially means that it hasn't been tested on chickens. I'm always cautious about using anything that may leave residual chemicals in my eggs . Don't mind using it on my dog but I'm not going to eat my dog. But each to their own that's just my opinion.
