Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

LOL you have the experience in that too ! How goes bush mumma ? Lol

Did you get any rain ?

4.5mm Sam. Better than nothing. Bush mumma Oz is still laying in the banana garden every day. I cut back her lemon grass for winter so that is one less hiding spot she has. I am sure I saw her giving me the stink eye over the fence at the time :) I took the pekin bush mumma away form her babies yesterday and she is not a happy camper today lol.

Not so great morning at my place. I went to check on the girls this morning before work and found one of my huge Light Sussex girls dead.
Not sure how or why she died, but I suspect old age. RIP Florence.

So sorry for your loss :hit I fear finding that in the morning too. I have a bout 4 sussex girls that are getting old now .

Her age wasn't helped by the fact she was overweight too. Oh well - luckily the pullets I'm keeping will replace her.

I feel bad, but I wasn't overly attached to her, I think she may have laid an egg once or twice in the 12 months I had her and was costing me a lot in food as she was a pig!
But a life is a life and it's always sad for me to have them pass away.

After three nights of undignified shoving of reluctant chickens through the sky tunnel, I thought I'd better get on with the ladder for inside the coop. I dragged my kids around bunnings & got home as it was getting dark. I only managed to saw 5 rungs with the saw jumping all over the place & thought that they could manage with that for tonight. We spent ages drilling in the run on Sunday without any of them batting an eyelid. However, before I had hammered the last rung in place all the chooks were inside the coop!

They got their half finished ladder anyway. Perhaps they will let themselves out in the morning for the first time too.

Glad to hear you are not heartbroken about Florence, K Spot. It's nice when they have had a good run & a backyard chicken has a MUCH better life than most.
