Last night when I was posting those pics I said ' oh isn't he gorgeous ' . My 16 daughter jumped up to see 'who who', she said. She stopped in her tracks and said wryly, ' it's a chicken isn't it ' ?
The academic dean from my 18 year old daughter' s school came to pick up her hens and was full of praise for my daughters knowledge of chickens. Casey winked at me and said ' I just pretend not to be listening, what can I do I'm a sponge ?'

We had 67mm today ! And the above Picts are during the flash flood we had as a result. Was trying to get home. At least the 6 yo stayed dry

They learn to move as you move it. Slowly at first.

Agree with rexy. I have 5 tractors and when they are first in there you have to go super slow but after a week or two they learn to run with the tractor.

And this one.. J came home from high school in grade 8 and said mum.... I think you have a hoarding problem.... I looked at him odd as I hate clutter so had no idea what he was on about... he said you have far more chickens than anyone else I know You would think I had hundreds . I told him to go read backyard chickens and see how many some people in the U.S have. I am only a small time player .

I heard a loud rooster crow that sounded like it was right outside my bedroom window this morning.

My neighbour responded by slamming all the windows on one side of their house closed! I heard crowing again later that sounded further away. Surely it's not mine which are 17 weeks today. I'd know by now right? It must have been a wandering rooster that was just really close by : /

My neighbour responded by slamming all the windows on one side of their house closed! I heard crowing again later that sounded further away. Surely it's not mine which are 17 weeks today. I'd know by now right? It must have been a wandering rooster that was just really close by : /

Our's always had practice crows, so we could hear them getting better and better at it.

Saying that, our Sussex first crowed at 6 weeks :O Most others were later, around 15 or so.
