Satay - I'm not on acerage & often talk to the chickens. I'm sure the neighbours even know all their names by now.

A bit of craziness keeps you young at heart. Also, I love that nearly all your Belgiums have their heads down & butts up in the pics. I find it hard to get a pis of mine any other way. Lol.

K Spot - that's so sweet.

That's when the zoom lense comes in handy. A little secret of mine , to get them standing at attention, is to make a hawk noise. Mean I know, but affective.

Hi everyone

I am a first-time chicken Mumma, and I think I am well on my way to being obsessed (oh, who am I kidding, already there! Lol)
I live in North-west WA, in a town called Karratha. It's pretty much always summer here, and gets super hot, so I will be on the lookout for great ways to keep the girls cool.

Chooks are fairly hard to get hold of up here, and there doesn't seem to be much choice in breed. Good thing I'm not picky :) Last week I picked up 2 Isa Brown's who are one month old. Went into mad building mode (as of coure I got the chickens BEFORE I built the run...doesn't everyone?!) Then somehow came home with 2 more chicks, these ones 10 days (also Isa browns). Not quite sure how that happened

So now there are 4.

I got the run and coop finished today, and all 4 girls seem very happy in their new digs. They seem to be getting along well, and the babies snuggle up to the bigger ones. So cute
Being in a fairly isolated town means that it is quite hard to get supplies, so I will be trying to do as much as I can with what I have, so fairly old-fashioned upkeep and feed.

Anyway, just wanted to say Hi
