Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Hi there.

I'm from Melbourne and I am a first timer with chooks. I just bought for the kids 3 Belgium D'uccles at point of lay. Very friendly birds which is great for the kids as they can pick them up and give cuddles. Looking forward to learning heap about raising chooks.

Cheers

Ollie

Hi Ollie,

welcome, I'm about 2 years into owning chickens and love it, you'll becom engrossed in them and what they do.

I'm about 50 mins out of Melbourne and now have 9 hens and a rooster.

Got any photos of your girls?

It's official I have gone chicken mad. I woke at midnight in a cold sweat remembering it was going to be the coldest morning so far this year and raced to the kitchen to fill warm water bottles for the brooder incase the power went out. lol.(Was gunna do it last night and forgot) Lucky when I got up this morning at 6 am it was -2C  . The power was fine but at least I knew my little ones didn't freeze. I have gone mad :lau

Fits right in with the "crazy chicken lady" moniker!!

Lucas, ebay is good for that sort of thing. Other than that you may have a livestock/pet or online garage sale fb page for your area.
