Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

I have 2 left to hatch . I can see the beak on one but no movement on the other. Yes a second light is a good idea. Don't beat yourself Kym I've lost little ones when they have fallen out of the nest box from momma. My brooder is in the laundry and I prefer to use the red globe so that every time i pass by I can see at a glance that it's on. The cheaper ones tend to blow out so always keep a spare.

:fl Good luck with those chicks Satay.
It's always your favorites:( .

Thanks Luke :) 2 out of 3 are looking much better, you would all know by now how I have "those" days. Well today is one for sure so far. Went to check on one of my breeding pens of quails and something had smashed through the front of it.(looked like the front had been kicked in with great force). It's made of heavy metal and the tiny square aviary wire. 1 quail still inside ok found another 2 dead in the yard and two more alive. 8 missing... Maybe should have stayed in bed this morning...:hit On a brighter note my diamond doves have 2 eggs. Wouldn't have thought they would be laying and trying to sit in this cold weather.

Looks like all 3 belgiums have recovered. One is still a little weak but they are all back in the brooder now and two are running around eating :)

. So sorry about your quails. Are you still searching for those 8?
Do you have any pictures of your Diamond Doves. They sound wonderful! So do doves sit as soon as they start laying?

Yeah I have been over the property a few times and asked neigbours on high side to keep an eye out too. I will keep going out and looking though. Hubby said he saw a fox on way out this morning. Up from where there cage is but who knows really.
This is the first time mine has laid eggs but she is not leaving the nest which is their feed bowl.. her boyfriend is dutifully bringing her cut off grass to line her nest with.
