Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Okay so think I've posted my last post on some random thread somewhere cause it ain't here no more lol. Oops!

Anyway it was asking advice on Australorps I was getting a photo of but they've turned out to have feathered legs so going to look further afield. I've emailed cb&cg to see if they have eggs and bellaroo poultry in Qld.

So if you have had eggs posted was it very successful?

It can come down to Aust post and how they handle them. I send eggs all over Australia. Most make it intact but i have had a few that have been totally smashed. They way they are packed is also important too. With posted eggs expect about 50% hatch rate anything better is a bonus. I have had a couple of 100% hatch rates from eggs i have recieved and also a couple of 0%.

I love Karakikis. I was tossing up between one of them and a Green Cheek Conure when I was on the lookout for a parrot. Ended up going with a GCC though

Hooray for Springtime! I'm waiting for one of my hens to go broody so I can hatch some more eggs. Just when I think one of them is sitting, they get off the nest and start to strut around and don't get back on.

When one eventually becomes broody, I'll be hatching some Marans and Araucanas. Next batch will contain Favs, SP Rock bantams (to replace my dear little pullet I lost) and a couple of Pekin Frizzles for other people.
Most will be sold on, but will keep an Ara, Marans, Fav and SP bantam - perhaps I can keep an SP Rock roo if I can play dumb to my husband??

Of course you can ;) MY girls are picking up laying now so get those broodies ready :)

:welcome I love my pekins such friendly chickens.

I've never actually seen one in person before! A lady who brought ducklings off us breeds them and we are due for some new chooks (our girls are getting old) so she has offered us some eggs. She is trying out a new young rooster so once we know they're fertile I'll be popping them in the bator. So excited!!!
I've read they are extremely poor layers. Do you find this?
