Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

I've never actually seen one in person before! A lady who brought ducklings off us breeds them and we are due for some new chooks (our girls are getting old) so she has offered us some eggs. She is trying out a new young rooster so once we know they're fertile I'll be popping them in the bator. So excited!!!
I've read they are extremely poor layers. Do you find this?

I find them ok layers. Small sized eggs but not too bad. I lost my first pekin recently she was 9 years old and still laying. Mine lay just about every day only missing the occassional day here and there but the 3 i have now are quite young only been laying a few months. My black rooster and hen are from show winning lines and my buff is just a standard backyard layer but i don't find much difference in the amount either lay. I can't wait too see pics of your babies when they hatch. I have a few eggs in the bator now due to hatch in a weeks and a half or so. My first hatch was only a couple of eggs from these ones and they were both roosters.

A pic of my pekins when they were young. Must get an updated one as the rooster is quite the stunner now he is older.

Went out to give the girls some treats just before and I found my poor little fug the( pigeon) chicken dead. That's the third older timer to pass in a couple of weeks now. Little fug was the smallest in the flock with the biggest attitude. She was 8 and 1/2, R.I.P little lady no more people mistaking you for a pigeon anymore. fug was an oeg bantam.
