I reckon you will wake up to pips tomorrow morning
I have another hatch due on Tuesday! Stoopid broodies! lolz That is it then! They have all been told .. anyone going broody is going into the broody box .. when Blondie has finished with it that is! lol
I used to love seeing my gals in the nest box because it meant I was going to get an egg soon .. now when I see someone in the nest box I cringe because it more than likely means someone else is broody! lolz
OMG tell me about it! Winry is broody and without my broody area that is being used for hatching I can't contain her.
Then today Al decided she just had had had to be in there though she did eventually lay an egg, and to top it off I closed it off about 4:30pm and we spotted Carl up on a chair trying to find another way in. Think I just might cry if another starts lol
I only have 5 girls and today my little Frizzle LuLu was complaining bitterly and making a heap of noise! I raced out to see what was wrong with her and she was upset because she was all alone in the run! Dusty in one nest box, Cilla in the other, Tina with the beans and Blondie on her eggs. Seen as I knew Dusty has laid her egg already I had to coax her out to keep LuLu company! lol
Hubby reckons the coop and run looks like tent city with little divided off, shade-clothed areas all over the place!
You girls need to make these Broodiies work for you. I have one adorable little silkie hen that has never raised a silkie chick. I dispose of her eggs and pop my blue laced Wyandotte, coro or light sussex eggs under her. I know that she will do ' the job ' proper . Get some eggs in and get those girls to work.
Unfortunately we live smack dab in the middle of suburbia 5 mins from the town centre on a regular block with nosy neighbours lol. This little hatch is about all we can stretch our flock by. I'd love to be on acres and do more though.
Next time we try and sneak a few more in I think we will be looking for Sussex to sneak under a broody too cause hubby thinks it's his turn to pick a breed and that's what he wants.
We've got 9 light sussex eggs under our light sussex at the moment.
We did buy a dozen, but I have given 3 to a workmate who has put them under her langshan bantam
We didn't expect our LS to go clucky so soon... If at all... But I guess hormones got the better of her!
The only problem being we have younger chickens we were hoping to introduce to our LS and new hampshire soon, but obviously they won't meet her most likely for another 3 weeks!!!
