I have heard of chillis being used when they are moulting to help feather in better.

Cayenne pepper is reputed for ' kick starting ' egg laying. I've never had to use it so I can't confirm or deny .

Found two little eggs in Mia and Bella's roost this morning

I was pretty excited when I saw them because I didn't expect them to lay so soon!
atleast I know they are definitely both hens

I realized yesterday I dont actually a pics of my grown girls only my babies that the babysitter sent to me lol

Yay, seems they are settling in very well!

Found a little egg myself out on the lawn outside the chook run.

What do you think, fart egg or wild bird? It's actually quite heavy for its size so now wondering if it might have been blown out of a nest in the wind last night

Never thought of candling duh!! It was really cold to touch though and its dropped from 28 yesterday to just 18 today so I think it probably spent too long out on the lawn cold last ngiht after the wind for there to be much hope if there was anything in it. It just felt funny, solid in weight, if that makes sense.

No actually Ive had winry outside the run because its the only way to keep her out of the nest box. I am REALLY missing alcatraz where we put our broodys but which is being a chick and mum house at the moment. Its been over a week Im sure and I still cant convince her it is just NOT going to happy LOL Al got over it after about 4 days but she is sooo determined. Im running out of ideas on how to de-broody a broody without a broody pen.
