No actually Ive had winry outside the run because its the only way to keep her out of the nest box.  I am REALLY missing alcatraz where we put our broodys but which is being a chick and mum house at the moment.   Its been over a week Im sure and I still cant convince her it is just NOT going to happy LOL  Al got over it after about 4 days but she is sooo determined.  Im running out of ideas on how to de-broody a broody without a broody pen.

Ah maybe then. Maybe the shell was thick so thatmadd it heavy

@cwrite
It depends on temperament of the dog mostly
Ones with a higher pray drive will be less likely to be good with chickens
I have two dogs
One grew up with a chicken for about 5 months then 5 years later we got chickens and he hardly even acknowledges them (other then wanting to roll in or eat their poop :sick ) but he's always been good with any animal
Our other dog is still young so he just wants to chase and harrass the chickens, he's the same with our cat though he loves harrasing him and trying to provoke him

Yeah my dog wants to kill. I have to lock her in the house when we let them out and just licks the door the whole time so I come in to a pile of drool. Does my head in. Want to swap with my friend lol

Lol SAMs dad use to sleep in the chook house ( Mudgee ) Sam was 2 when we got chooks. Got two old batteries to see if they survived. When they did we expanded. The big thing with him is he is and always has been bottom of the rung so much so I have to tell him to eat from the door he won't go near food till the boss has their share. This made it easy to introduce the chickens they are mine hence no go to him

Lol. Sam your explanation reminds me of the Ceasar Milan episode with the chicken. It laid an egg while he was holding it & the dog went to sniff the egg He did his no thing, ssst. The chicken belongs to me & the egg belongs to the chicken so it's still mine. I used to love watching it because I'm pretty sure any dog would walk all over me.

I did a huge run clean out yesterday, got rid of all the old litter, levelled off the humps & filled in the holes with fresh soil. They I threw in a hay bale for the chooks to work on this summer. I've only used hay in the nests before & sure enough, they now think their whole run is one big nest & laid all over the place, except in the actual nest.

I personally dont like Ceasar's methods of training
When I was younger I use to watch it but now I now a lot more about dogs body languages and how to train them without using his forceful methods
You can see the dogs he works with are very stressed and he pushes them to breaking point where the dogs either shut down or lash out at him
So you either endup with a robot or a dog that is unprodictable and very unstable

If you have seen "it's me or the dog" her methods are much better, Victoria's are all about positive reinforcement (R+ training) instead of bullying the dog into "submission"

Any way abit off topic but it's one thing I feel strongly about :)
