Lovely chicks Ash, particluarly the grey one in front.A lavender araucana?![]()
Thankyou for your kind offer Vehve. I'm currently trying to visually decipher a photo that looks to be Winter War troops and I suspect may be my great grandfather. There's not a lot to go on, just their uniforms, insignia and a little writing on the back.
Oh that video is awesome K Spot!! Thankyou for sharing![]()
Watched it with the kids and they were fascinated too. We do chickens and life cycle each spring as part of our home learning, so this is a great one to add to the resources list.
Congrats on the cute little fluffies youngchooklover.
What a cute crowd you have there Ash. Are those bottles in there to help retain heat?
Well, I only ended up with 5 hatching from my 18 eggs that went into lockdown. 2 were early quitters, that needed pulling early in because they were weeping.
The rest were cooked before they could externally pipI feel terrible that I couldn't get my incubator to settle down and stop spiking, but I just have to take the lesson I learned and apply it next time I try.![]()
I was devastated, but my hubby was like 'just try again'. He's organising more eggs for me to try again, before it gets too hot to post any more, or try hatching any more. Last chance for this year, then I'm packing the incy away for a year. I'm also considering investing in a more stable and reliable incubator that can handle weather fluctuations better.
Got to love a man who supports you in your passion and picks you up when you fall down.
It did give me some more appreciation for the 5 that made it, if that could ever be the case.
I just love their little fluffy bums, even the noisemaker who likes to sing along to Thomas the Tank Engine theme song when it comes on in the arvo. Gosh, he's a loud chickie!
They're growing so fast and I love watching them tuck into their feed each morning and night.
I'm creating an album and uploading photo's on my profile right now, instead of chocking up this feed with all the photos I take![]()
