Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Nothing like going out in the morning to find my silly silkie rooster out of the house and his run sleeping under the tree the Owls roost in! No idea how I missed him last night when doing my check, but it's amazing he survived...

I'm really fond of him too!

How scary steampunked! They probably thought he was a fluffy little owlet up in the tree :)

Just heard my first practice egg song from tiny little Cho! She's supposedly about 17 weeks (breeder told me hatched on 29/9, but she also told me she's a pure pekin so I'm not sure I believe her!) let the count down to first egg commence! She's sometimes quite red but not always so I won't be waiting in earnest till she's red in the face all the time. I highly doubt anything she lays will be big enough to eat lol. I barely hear a peep from them right now so it will be interesting once they all get their big girl voices :)

This is about as red as she gets, she gets just a bit darker when she's chasing one of the younger ones but that's all. See her tail compared to the pekin butt behind her

Hiding behind a 13-14 week old light Sussex, she's TINY!!

Luna the bantam Araucana is 18 weeks , getting pinker, Ginny the pekin, 17 weeks, is a little way off yet I think as she's still cheering more than clucking but getting pinker too

Lol a broader shot shows that it's a bit patchy at the moment, we waged war on weeds a few weeks ago, but the rain we've been getting has greened everything up

This is this afternoon, the girls decided the rain was no reason to miss out on their free range time!

Hey all. I've been really busy with my studies and building our brooder for the chicks who have seriously outgrown their little container. On top of that my mental health is in a downswing so my interest in almost everything is bottoming out. Had some nice chicken cuddles today which helped a bit. My Golden Spangled Hamburg hen has taken to hopping up in my lap for a pat.

After a look at Bumblebee's wound yesterday we decided to remove her bandages and leave them off. It's looking quite good. I'll keep an eye on her over the next few days to make certain that the improvement holds.

My head is crowded full of vet studies.
