How scary steampunked! They probably thought he was a fluffy little owlet up in the tree![]()
Just heard my first practice egg song from tiny little Cho! She's supposedly about 17 weeks (breeder told me hatched on 29/9, but she also told me she's a pure pekin so I'm not sure I believe her!) let the count down to first egg commence! She's sometimes quite red but not always so I won't be waiting in earnest till she's red in the face all the time. I highly doubt anything she lays will be big enough to eat lol. I barely hear a peep from them right now so it will be interesting once they all get their big girl voices

This is about as red as she gets, she gets just a bit darker when she's chasing one of the younger ones but that's all. See her tail compared to the pekin butt behind her

Hiding behind a 13-14 week old light Sussex, she's TINY!!

Luna the bantam Araucana is 18 weeks , getting pinker, Ginny the pekin, 17 weeks, is a little way off yet I think as she's still cheering more than clucking but getting pinker too
Thanks, I'll keep you posted. My only girl that currently lays green eggs is molting so nothing from her in months. Her name is Lavender. Here's a photo of her before the molt started.

wow look at that lovely lawn!
Lookin good. Its a breed that is growing on me as I find the idea of coloured eggs fascinating. Are they a very quiet breed?
