Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Happy Birthday Aussie! I've only ever used FB for family and a very small group of friends that live in different countries. Unfortunately they are better at remembering birthdays than I am. Life just seems to pass in such a rush I don't know how anyone keeps track.

Cute birds K Spot. How old are they?

I think I'm quite lucky with my flock. My head hen is too lazy to chase the others. They have to go near the food before she'll exert herself to peck them. The three lowest in the pecking order have made it a habit to peck the newbies when they go into the run, but after the 'ambush' it's all fine. I think it's just a reminder and to make sure that they don't land up under one of the pullets. My overcrested ara is a clear winner for bottom of the rung though.

Nice to get some guilt free time on here because my midsemester exam is done.

Now for the chooks and kids to go to bed so I can catch up on sleep. : )

Anyone had experience with a rottweiler and chickens together. Just adopted a 7 year old boy who is a massive couch potato in behaviour. We know he will fixate on cats but easily snapped out of it and has no trouble passing dogs in the street and is obedient with simple commands. Anyone know if at 7 years old can be taught to not go the chickens? I havent tried him as yet.

I have had rotti with chooks but he was raised by me from a pup. Completely loyal and obedience tdx level I introduced him to chooks when he was 5 yo by tying him up and letting the girls free range and I'd sit next to him patting him re assuring ect then the girls came up and get a treat out of his range but he could be up close slowly he started to show no interest and then I'd put him on the lunge lead LOL so I'd have control but he could go to the girls then they mingled as one flock :). Not all dogs are trainable however. And caution and sence need to prevail

I was anti social way before I found Facebook

I'm not sure that facebook makes everyone anti social. Hubby tells me it's just another way for me to be social :lau I chat to friends and sell chickens on facebook. I love a good messenger and what's app chat with other friends and well yep in real life I love to chat too. BBQ's are quite common out here with all the neighbours. We get together at a different persons place or go to a restaurant. I guess that's why hubby calls me little miss have a chat... :lau
