Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Oh ok, I only ask because it is an 'off label ' product for chickens and if you are under dosing and or not doing the 14 day follow up it may not have been as effective as you think.
...I am definitely not doing a 14 day follow up. The other wormer I have is Wormout which is notionally for pigeons and bantams. :(

I'll reworm all of my chickens in the morning.

The avitrolplus plus is a good wormer, though not very cost effective for larger flocks. If you are using the syrup you can administer 4ml per kg of bird and then re-dose in 10-14 days to catch any hatching eggs. You can also mix a 25 ml bottle into a litre of water and give it to the flock , once again you would need to re-dose . Although it is ' off label ' for poultry the praziquantel requires at least a 7 day with holding for meat and eggs. So realistically that's 3 weeks without eggs, but as yours aren't laying as yet, that's not a problem.
The tabs are 2 tablets per kg of bird. It would take me a month of Sunday's to worm all my birds that way. :)

I've got my chooks trained to peck at and swallow tablets out of my hand. It's one of the first things I train them to do when I get new chooks in quarantine to make worming easier later. If the tablets are too big I break it up into small bits and they peck at all of the bits until they're down. I make sure that I do it in an area where I can see any dropping pieces as they sometimes try to grab them and fail. If I've been deworming them over a tarp I can pick up the bit of pill and try again until they get their full dose.

I can see that would be a handy trick. So would you have dosed 2 tabs per bird, assuming they are youngish.

I seriously think our weather has lost it's mind lately. The last week was hot and humid and rainy. This morning when it got up it was 7.5c.. Pretty sure winter starts in june.:(

Hi all. A question from someone who has only had cooks since last sept. My 2 araucanas who were hatched around July started laying in January. Yay! They havent laid an egg since mid March now. Why has this happened? They aren't moulting, no parasites, healthy, happy. I'm a little puzzled & looking forward to hearing from you seasoned chook people
