Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

I'm wondering if I've left this too long without checking (**** I should have checked the next morning at that first inkling weeks ago) and if she should just go to the vet. Due to allergies this is our kids pet and everyone's favourite so to me it's no different to taking your cat.

This is her crop at 1:30pm with no food since yesterday. It quite solid feeling and very obvious and I'm going to say compacted not sour. I've been putting her shabby appearance down to moulting but now wondering how much food she has been actually getting through into her system, she isn't her normal boisterous self.

Hey appps

As I mentioned, you were in great hands with Fancy's advice and I am no expert but the sardines in oil and a good massage should help. For a while after Cilla experienced her crop issues, her crop did hang low probably due to the previous pressure but after a week or so it was back to normal.

If it was me, I would try the sardines and a gentle massage and see how she is tomorrow. Unless, of course, you are concerned that she has or will take a turn for the worse. If by tomorrow it does not appear to have reduced it's solidness, then she may need that Vet visit.

If you have an avian vet nearby , that is always the best option. Don't feed her any grain, some soft food and be sure she has plenty of water. Does she seem excessively thirsty ? They try to wash it down with gallons of water. Has she had access to fresh lawn clippings in the past week or so ? The other thing that balls up in the crop is hay.

… beautiful boys!

Lovely pictures and beautiful birds Sam. I love RooRoo’s single-high tail feather and colour!

Bed time tonight, I heard lots of peeping again and Cilla, Crystal and KiKi were all on the roost. However, Cilla was again next to the wall and there was much pushing and shoving to be next to her.

I left them to it while I did my chores and I could still hear lots and lots of peeping. Then it went quiet and I thought 'Yep, back in the nest box'. But when I went for a last check at the end of my chores, KiKi and Crystal were on either side of Cilla

I do not know if all the peeping was one crawling over the other, if one jumped down and back up again, causing Cilla to shuffle over or whether they all jumped down and back up again but the good news is they are still on the roost, snuggled up on either side of Mum :)

Thanks Teila. I admit I was worried with her having only pin feathers and looking like a porcupine while we had all that nasty weather. Possibly why she has down like fluff instead of full feathering Where she roosts was made nice and cozy and dryer than where the rest of the flock was !

Gotta say I kinda love the squabbling siblings
