Had to keep everyone locked up yesterday for fear of someone blowing away. Eerily calm now. The goats have wondered 2 properties away and are munching away on the apple orchard . First order of the day , don the gumboots and go get those rascally goats.

Hello all hope everybody is coping well with this wild weather we've been having. Does anybody here has or breeds araucanas?

i have one hen and 12 eggs down. Will be breeding next year hopefully.

No. Most australian ones are tailed and crested/bearded as opposed to rumpless and tufted. Not sure why. I think we can get them just not common.

You are talking about the US standard. Australian Aras are quite different - look at some of the photos attached to this thread.

I have been looking for some I have one hen at the moment about 28 weeks old and she a lavender one heaps tiny so I guess she's bantam. Has not layed her first egg yet

saw another pullet araucana at the poultry sale but she is tailed as well and no crest as such but apparently she is a pure breed

Like the white ones are they standard size? I have one lavender I think she's a bantam. Do you show your birds? I'm looking for breed that my daughter can show. I'm new to chooks so I'm looking for one that she can start on.
