australian. They are lovely chooks. Mine prefers free ranging to eating grain. Barely go through 4 cups of grain to 5 chickens per week. Active and reasonably friendly. My black girl jumps up on my lap occaisionally. Perfect 1st timer chickens

Are these birds slow maturing? The lavender araucana I've got is my daughters she carries her around all the time. Very friendly not really flighty and she wants her to have babies apparently and I think because she wants to show the chook in the junior comp. but I don't really know much about the breed. Do they get broody? Would fertile eggs for hatching be easy to source?

hey do get broody im not sure how often. Eggs are reasonably easy to source in the later half of the year. My lavender didnt start laying until 7 months and my black at 8 mths and my blue hadnt started laying at 10mths when she was killed. So a bit slower to lay than some. Lovely green or blue eggs. I don't know anything about showing. I wont be. I'll mostly be breeding easter eggers and olive eggers so as they are a mix breed they can't be standardized

These were my two ( still have the caramel coloured one) they were smaller than I expec but they only lay 40-50g eggs so thinking they will seem small to a standard lorp LOL
Also correct me if I'm wrong But don't Australia have tailed arau's due to the fatality rate of rumpless arau's . Positive I read somewhere 3/5 or 4/5 die due to tailless gene

Im not sure. Was meant to be pure bred but her shape is a bit different. In good laying season she lays 6 days in seven so I'd assume something common that lays well.
