Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

@Ashburnham . I see you have a plastic covered greenhouse. That's what I've been looking at but more over just one bed. Do you find it warms enough to grow things out of season or do you still just grow winter crops?
The cement sheeting reinforcement keeps it slightly cooler, which is good for summer. It is holding 28 degrees today, with an outside air temp of 12 degrees. Still gets cool at night- lowest recorded so far inside it is 5 degrees.
I am using it to start off winter seedlings, but still have sweet potato and chillis growing in it.

appps I used to have a pretty good vegie garden but the chicken coops/runs and cat run took up all the spare space I had. I do, however, have my eye on a spot down the side of the house where the gals do not go and I am contemplating putting some raised beds there, similar to Ash.

Looks good Ash!

Lovely egg basket cwrite. Lols at chicken food coma.

So, I mentioned to the girls that I would like to get a picture of everyone striking a pose. All but one were very obliging; Dusty, not so much. I never realised just how much she moves around and how much she eats. I tried dropping things, whistling, talking to her, food distractions, getting Hubby to attract her attention etc but I could not get her to strike a pose .. this is the best I could do with her and as you can see, it was getting late and I had to use a flash. Mental note to self; next time start with Dusty cos it is going to take ALL day!

PS. KiKi and Crystal are Silkie X's [5 toes] .. any thoughts on what they may be crossed with? They are coming up for 11 weeks old. [I believe there may have been a Light Sussex in the mix].

I'm thinking Frizzle x Silkie and Buff Orpington x Silkie respectively. But I could be well off the mark.

Sjturner79 love the bed time shot; I never tire of seeing them all happy and snug for the night.

Yep, only girls here. Living residential in Brisbane means a maximum of 6 chickens and no roosters allowed.

Thanks MagicPidge, I might just have to refer to them as a Frizzle and a Silkie X

Heh. I lived in suburban Sydney and managed to keep 30 chickens under the hood at one point. I just wish I could pull of the same stunt here in Canberra
