Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Just thought I'd share my air cells on day 17

This is the front of my super wonky air cell, the air cell goes down on both sides of the egg
800

And the other side
800

And the other egg the dip is on just one side
800

I've just taken the turner out and have propped them upright at a slight tilt on a cut down paper towel holder instead and I'll leave them to hatch like that. From what I read it helps them hatch when the air cell is detached to keep them upright and stop turning day 16 (I'm actually half way through day 17) I really wasn't sure which way to put the double saddle egg so hope I've positioned it the right side up.

I could see little shadows moving around in the eggs which was cool :)

Any tips or advice?

As long as you saw movement you should be ok. I would leave them like that and keep everything crossed.

Check out what my neighbour gave me today! He had him growing in a tall pot in the front garden but he had become totally pot-bound and my neighbour wanted to use the pot for something else and did not want him! His name is Alex ... as in Alex Hailey - Roots ;) Now I just need to know what he is???? And, hope the move has not killed him. Edited to Add: one of the benefits from sharing excess eggs ;) And, research (ask a friend on Facebook lol) indicates Alex is a Yucca.
I have a few yukkas love them and the best bit is as they grow older you can cut the top of plant it in the ground and the old one will regrow a new top and the new one will grow as well.

Sorry apps other than using your broody. I can't help you !

I'm really torn on that. My incubator can be temperamental so she is probably a better bet but then with these air cells I'm thinking they probably have more chance upright in the incubator than on their sides under her. Bit of a throw of the dice I think.

Correct me if I'm wrong ( Fancy would know) but corn is a " Hot feed " meaning it will increase body metabolism and make the girls hotter. This is why cracked corn is fed to race horses

Its pretty much an old wives tale. To much corn will make them get too fat hence it not being a good idea in hot climates. Mine still get a couple of handfuls a day all year round. Probably a great idea for race horses as the burn so much energy racing.

Hi sorry for that I thought something wasn't right and anyway the one died in the adults water troft and drowned then my second female sitting lost eight eggs due to being rotten then my smallest female this is the good news by the way has hatched out all six of her eggs and they are all doing well but one so yeah here are pics do you have any suggestions on why they leg is bad
Sorry for your loss. AS fancy mentioned Brewers yeast would be the best thing. You can get it in the health section of your supermarkets

I'd leave it dirt, I stopped using shavings when I lost a few chicks ( eating the stuff ) to pasty butt. I gave up, when I was in hospital I gave my well intended friends strict instructions on which pens to collect from , only to find that the silkie eggs that were almost ready to hatch had also been collected. Back to the drawing board, momma is still sitting, poor little thing.

Oh no.:hugs
