Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Fancy, again, I love your garden. Mine pales in comparison but yep, I do agree with the low maintenance. I used to spend many hours battling with weeds but chickens and mulch have pretty much put a stop to that .. the only weeding required is on the gravel path or between the pavers and the ‘non commercial’ weed killer recipe I shared earlier deals with them pretty effectively.

Definitely not intended to take away from the beauty of your garden and the obvious care and thought you give it, but with a ‘low maintenance’ garden, a mow and prune/trim is sometimes all it needs.

Nothing better at the end of a weekend in the garden than sitting back with a drink of the type appropriate to the time of day and enjoying the results

Any chance you might have your camera with you while you tend to the goats? I would love to see some pictures of them please?

When we lived in Perth I worked at a rose nursery, always said I would never have roses and I stuck to that for years. I now have 30 roses and I must admit I hate pruning time, but I do love the scent in summer. I've contoured all the lines in my garden so that I can mow with the ride on with no sharp corners or angles that require reversing. Every 2 years I get a 10 ton truck load of pine mulch and that has certainly cut my weeding time.
I'm sure I have some goat pics somewhere.

Fancy, I think I remember you mentioning the rose nursery in the past which prompted a conversation about dead-heading roses? Mum loved roses and as kids we used to run and hide every time Mum mentioned “time to dead head the roses” and went off to the shed to get buckets and clippers. Roses are beautiful to look at but yeah, I still cringe thinking about the many hours spent tending to them.

Thank you for sharing the goat pics! They are beautiful and adorable! The first one is lovely and I love the expression/smile on the brown and white one.

Hubby just walked past my computer and without me saying anything he said “NO!” and kept going

I keep my garden ' low maintenance ' , lots of mulch to smother the weeds and the hedges only need to be trimmed once a year. Mowing the lawns is the most time consuming job, 5 hours a week in spring. I am quietly chipping away at the amount of lawn by creating new garden beds. With this time of year being so busy with the horses , it is sometimes hard to make time to ' stop and smell the roses ' , but there's nothing quite so relaxing as a glass of red in the garden. A garden is something for all to enjoy. When I am gone , it will still be here blooming and pleasing others. :)
This weekend we have a ' horse free ' day , so it's time to worm the goats and trim their hooves and send them down the back.

I think that's actually where I have always gone wrong, I never get round to mulching so the weeds take over. It's my todo job this spring but already the weeds are starting to get ahead of me!

Update on Zeus. I was supposed to take him back for x-rays this weekend but just spoke to the vet and he isn't on this weekend so is happy for him to wait another week. He has been consulting with the uni vet and they seem to think if he isn't getting any worse the chances of cancer are very slim now. The uni vet (surgeon) thinks he may require a tendon release but wont know for sure til he has the x-rays. Once x-rays are done they will be sent straight to the uni vet for consolation. So ill be keeping my fingers crossed for another week that , that is what it is. :fl

x2 Though I don't have many weeds at the moment but I am a shocker for getting around to weeding.

I actually had it under control last year because the chooks free ranged up there and ate anything silly enough to pop it's head up. Since the goshawk and them being confined to their run it's just gone crazy :-(. Thinking I might fence a little area under a bushy tree so they can at least weed that for me.

Wouldn't you think after a good year of the chickens living in an area there wouldn't be a weed seed left to germinate. I'm amazed at how they have taken over with the chooks and our gumtree gone.

The garden is loving all this sunshine.

Lovely photograph - - - and the verandah - opening onto such a beautiful garden. Love the stepped look of the hedge plants - looks as though you have topiarised them.

I have one nice-ish topiary --- that's enough for me !!

The other pics you have posted show a garden that is tended with loving care, and is really wonderful. Such peaceful settings, beautifully designed ( by you no doubt ) and landscaped. At least in Tassie you get to keep green lawn a lot of the year. ... unlike some of the mainland. !!

So enjoyed the goat pics too --- would love to have goats, but our property is just not big enough. I also would prefer hubby not to have serious conniptions or health scares, from any ideas I might get about goats. He has enough to contend with - my chooks !! ( all 3 of them - LOL ), and Miss Ruby dog.

As he has now officially retired ( as from tomorrow ) ... he is thinking of applying to raise a Guide dog puppy. Not sure the Guide Dogs association would be too delighted with a happy-go-lucky ( but mainly obedient ) Golden Retriever and 3 chickens. Maybe too many diversions, but we shall see.

Cheers ...
