Sadly the meetings were not cancelled and I got to spend the day in the office yesterday looking all ‘corporate’ .. back to shorts and T-shirt today

locknest4 I am sorry to hear that you are not feeling 100%

RodneyRooster I love the yard full of bubbies!

Fancy your garden is just BEAUTIFUL! And, yep, I think having to dig them up again will be a lesson well learnt … listen or dig

Anniebee Wow, I am actually lost for words! Not only do I love the limerick poem I am actually very touched .. I seriously cannot remember the last time, if ever, anyone has put so much creativity and time into something for me, I will treasure it .. THANK YOU!
hugs.gif

I would love to share it with my friends on Facebook .. would you mind? Of course, I would like to mention you and wonder how you would like me to do that? Anniebee OK or do you have a pen-name?

satay fingers crossed for your son’s interview today

So, Cilla was pecking at the oyster shell last night

Good news in that she might be returning to laying soon, bad news that in only 10-16 eggs we get to go through it all again

KiKi is still broody, mainly because the weather is not allowing me to put her in the broody breaker but I am locking her out of the nest box as much as possible. She is actually a sweet little broody and does not make life miserable for her flock mates, just wanders around chattering a lot when she cannot get to the nest. Besides the ninja chicken routine on the dustpan and brush in the mornings, she is easily managed. For this reason, no nickname for broody KiKi, I didn’t really like Countess KiKula but is was all I could come up with on short notice

Teila --- re my little ( but longish ) limerick. Always nice to know someone is happy with what I write. .... I enjoyed writing it too.

Don't mind at all if you post it on Facebook. I am just me on there - So you can use both Anniebee, and what I am known as on FB - Anne Byam.

Delighted that you have had such pleasure from my writing ( or odd waffling ?? ). I do waffle on a lot - must try to back off that bit - maybe in the New Year ??
fl.gif
( LOL ).

Wonder how far that resolution will be successful ??
hmm.png

............

Is there anything specific that makes chickens broody ? - I am thinking particular type kitchen food scraps or something ... just a weird question. You seem to be surrounded by broodies from time to time.

Love the ninja chicken with dustpan tale. They are all such adorable darlings, arent' they - broody or not - ninja or not !!

Cheers ........ AB

Update on Zeus. I was supposed to take him back for x-rays this weekend but just spoke to the vet and he isn't on this weekend so is happy for him to wait another week. He has been consulting with the uni vet and they seem to think if he isn't getting any worse the chances of cancer are very slim now. The uni vet (surgeon) thinks he may require a tendon release but wont know for sure til he has the x-rays. Once x-rays are done they will be sent straight to the uni vet for consolation. So ill be keeping my fingers crossed for another week that , that is what it is.

That is excellent news satay .... and I so hope you and the Uni Vet are correct.

Zeus from what I gather is showing little or nothing of being 'different' to his normal fun loving routines. Eating well, and generally interested in everything.

All good signs.

Cheers ...

Good morning Friends .. TGIF!

I do believe I live in a bubble

By now, you probably know me well enough to know that I do not wander far and I am happiest when at home. For weeks on end the only time I leave home is to do the grocery shopping on a Sunday; other than that, I am home all week.

Coincidence that two days after going into the office I now have blocked ears, sore throat and runny nose? I think not!

satay I will have fingers crossed for you and Zeus also but it does sound promising.

Anniebee congratulations to your hubby on retirement; raising a Guide Dog puppy sounds like a wonderful way to enjoy it.

Having over 9 weeks leave up my sleeve and not having had a holiday since last December, I have been told to take leave so I have two weeks at Christmas. I need to come up with a project to keep me amused during that time .. any bets on whether said project involves chickens?

I shared your limerick on my FB page only a few minutes ago and already have one ‘Like’ and a comment “Very good, very talented lady!” I thought you would like to know and I agree

Edited to Add: and .. "Great, gifted lady indeed !"

Thank you. He is fine in in all ways except for his leg limp. The trouble I have at the moment is trying to convince him that running after the mail lady etc is not a good idea. I have him in the house most of the day but he goes out to go toilet if I turn my back he is off then his limp gets a little worse. I find it so odd that he has trouble walking, Limping etc but can run flat out after something with no problems at all. It's hard to keep a working dog still but I am doing my best. The vet asked me yesterday if the pain meds were slowing him down at all as they sometimes have this effect.. Ah no... I wish they were.

Thought i'd share some updated pics of some hatches. This is the frizzle Belgian hatch/ pekins as well.

3 little millies from my bought eggs.

and finally a closer look at my frizzled Belgian.

Lovely photograph - - -  and the verandah - opening onto such a beautiful garden.   Love the stepped look of the hedge plants - looks as though you have topiarised them.

I have one nice-ish  topiary --- that's enough for me !!

The other pics you have posted show a garden that is tended with loving care, and is really wonderful.   Such peaceful settings, beautifully designed ( by you no doubt ) and landscaped.    At least in Tassie you get to keep green lawn a lot of the year. ... unlike some of the mainland.  !!

So enjoyed the goat pics too --- would love to have goats, but our property is just not big enough.   I also would prefer hubby not to have serious conniptions or health scares, from any ideas I might get about goats.   He has enough to contend with -  my chooks !!  ( all 3 of them - LOL ), and Miss Ruby dog.

As he has now officially retired ( as from tomorrow ) ... he is thinking of applying to raise a Guide dog puppy.   Not sure the Guide Dogs association would be too delighted with a happy-go-lucky ( but mainly obedient ) Golden Retriever and 3 chickens.   Maybe too many diversions, but we shall see.

Cheers ...

Congrats on your hubbys retirement anni. What a lovely idea raising a guide dog. I hope he gets the chance.

Great pics satay so, so cute! Love the little frizzled Belgian; I remember us joking about it being ‘Mine!” and your response that I could have it if it was a rooster .. going by my untrained eye, I am thinking not much chance of that .. are you thinking pullet?

Hello. I'm on the GoldCoast, back up in the hills a bit. I have 9 rescue hens (from a caged farm where they were to be killed as 18mths old). So they now have a lovely home, lots of love and care and in return they still gift me 5 eggs a day. I have 5 Rhode Island reds and 4 Australorps. They are each named after amazing women in history like Ammelia Earhart, Emmeline Pankhurst...and more. They hang around my office door in between dust bathing, pecking around and snoozing....now they have the life they deserve.
