Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Hello. I'm on the GoldCoast, back up in the hills a bit. I have 9 rescue hens (from a caged farm where they were to be killed as 18mths old). So they now have a lovely home, lots of love and care and in return they still gift me 5 eggs a day. I have 5 Rhode Island reds and 4 Australorps. They are each named after amazing women in history like Ammelia Earhart, Emmeline Pankhurst...and more. They hang around my office door in between dust bathing, pecking around and snoozing....now they have the life they deserve.

welcome jules.

Tee hee satay as long as the gift is not and does not intend to crow, you would be welcomed with open arms .. well, assuming I see you first. If hubby sees you first, while you would still be welcome, not so sure about the gift

May be just pop her on the front lawn at a designated time and I could try “She followed me home, can I keep her?”

:lau Sounds like a plan

Man these spammers drive you nuts. I mean really, why would you even bother spamming a forum in a different language? How many hits are you ever going to get if nobody even knows what you are saying.

OMG! Can't believe they are back again! Won't bother looking on the home page till they can get rid of the spammers. Very frustrating for everyone, especially the moderators.

Good morning Friends :frow Sadly the meetings were not cancelled and I got to spend the day in the office yesterday looking all ‘corporate’ .. back to shorts and T-shirt today ;) locknest4 I am sorry to hear that you are not feeling 100% RodneyRooster I love the yard full of bubbies! Fancy your garden is just BEAUTIFUL! And, yep, I think having to dig them up again will be a lesson well learnt … listen or dig ;) Pugg congratulations … adorable little ones you have there! Mum & Dad are beautiful birds also. appps :lau at “never assume teenagers have listening skillsChristieB I agree with you … the rain is needed and wonderful but can go away for a while now ;) Anniebee Wow, I am actually lost for words! Not only do I love the limerick poem I am actually very touched .. I seriously cannot remember the last time, if ever, anyone has put so much creativity and time into something for me, I will treasure it .. THANK YOU! :hugs I would love to share it with my friends on Facebook .. would you mind? Of course, I would like to mention you and wonder how you would like me to do that? Anniebee OK or do you have a pen-name? satay fingers crossed for your son’s interview today :fl So, Cilla was pecking at the oyster shell last night :yesss: Good news in that she might be returning to laying soon, bad news that in only 10-16 eggs we get to go through it all again :he KiKi is still broody, mainly because the weather is not allowing me to put her in the broody breaker but I am locking her out of the nest box as much as possible. She is actually a sweet little broody and does not make life miserable for her flock mates, just wanders around chattering a lot when she cannot get to the nest. Besides the ninja chicken routine on the dustpan and brush in the mornings, she is easily managed. For this reason, no nickname for broody KiKi, I didn’t really like Countess KiKula but is was all I could come up with on short notice ;)
I do believe we bet on 3, 8 and 8 didnt we? Nobody suggested ud get 10 days or longer!! Hahabaha
Update on Zeus. I was supposed to take him back for x-rays this weekend but just spoke to the vet and he isn't on this weekend so is happy for him to wait another week. He has been consulting with the uni vet and they seem to think if he isn't getting any worse the chances of cancer are very slim now. The uni vet (surgeon) thinks he may require a tendon release but wont know for sure til he has the x-rays. Once x-rays are done they will be sent straight to the uni vet for consolation. So ill be keeping my fingers crossed for another week that , that is what it is. :fl
My fingers are crossed for u as well xx

Haha best idea ever! Followed me home how many kms?? Lol Fancy ur garden really is amazing. AB ur poem was amazing I loved it! And raising a guide dog would be such a wonderful and fulfilling thing to do. Really making a huge difference on someones life :) well done to him and best of luck. Broody 2 is still sleeping outside with her 7 chicks.. wont leave the broody area even tho the door is always open for her. Give her her own time i guess. Funny thing is thats the new cool hang out.. everyone else joins her in there too! Got an extra feeder and waterer the other day as now there are so many they were going through the lot each day! There are now 2 big waters 2 big feeders, a medium feeder and waterer and a 1 litre waterer - only small one they had when i went shopping for another broody waterer. Well my tax season has officially finished (am working just 1-2 days a week in the off season). Since July I have done 374 returns! No wonder i feel like im waiting to let out a huge sigh haha

Oh goats , I adore goats, we had boer goats and a couple mutt breeds during my teen years, I think my dad still has a couple but got rid of most of them when he moved up to Childers. One of my goals is to one day have enough land to have a milker and kids, along with my 50 or so chooks (long range projection based on my current rate of flock growth lol)
