Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Didn't get anything unusual in the way of storms where I am. Just 2 inches of rain and hail the size of golf balls like it has been regularly since May.

We didn't get the forecast storm front. We had a great day at the show, I stewarded in the hacking ring , eldest daughter was official photographer and youngest daughter competed in the show jumping ring. Hubby filmed the highlights of the day with his drone.
It started raining just as the horses were going back into their paddocks and we were relaxing with a wine. :)

Ya gotta love Mother Nature's sense of humour .. one minute hoomans and chookies are not doing much because it is too hot, just leisurely pottering in the garden etc and next we are all running for cover to avoid being hit by hail.

The one time we did not worry about locking the girls up because the storm did not look like it was sticking around for long, it hails

Luckily we have a lot of vegetation for them to hide under and no-one got bonked on the head or injured. Two more storms incoming now but the gals are now safe in their run, which I am also pleased to advise held up under the hail, no holes in the roof

Can hardly believe the horrid stormy weather you are having up north !! Very nasty in many places, from TV weather reports.

Still sitting in two cardigans, and about to turn on the heater again. Another low across Victoria, ultra cold this morning. ... Weather forecasters predict 30°C next Saturday ( Wow ) ... but I will believe it when I see it. Will check the BOM who are far more reliable with their forecasts than anything TV says ( I think they make some of it up for sensation purposes - honestly ).

My 3 girsl love hail.

They chase it like dogs would a moving plaything. And they gobble it up ..... that is, providing it is small.

If heavy stuff, I am out there at 100 mph to lock them up. Second to them, the car then goes into the garage ( to prevent damaging dints ).

I hope all have a good week .......

Cheers ...

My Welsummer rooster attacked my light Sussex rooster and now he has just killed my Hamburg rooster!

We will be having a lovely welsummer sized Christmas lunch.

Light Sussex after attack

A couple weeks after
That is extremely sad ... what a horrid thing to happen, and for you to discover.

My Mandy Welsummer - in her younger days, was definitely intent on killing ( if she were able to / allowed ) my Mindy Araucana.

Now that they are all older and Mandy has some arthritic condition at times, she has 'mellowed' and hasn't the inclination to attack Mindy anymore.

However, I would not try to house them together again. Saw Mandy have a go at Molly RIR the other day - so she still has a bit of feisty in her - even though she has slowed down.

Don't think I could come at a Christmas Dinner of one of my chooks - no matter how badly behaved he/she had been. But then ...... !! It does happen ...

jessbonnitcha I am so very sorry for your loss and under such circumstances

He sounds like he definitely was a mean rooster.

MyHaven yeah, you have had more than your fair share of sick chooks
sad.png
We faired pretty well during the storms only losing a small pane of glass which was leaning against the carport, it got blown over and smashed. Lots of rain outside but nothing inside, once we shut the windows
wink.png
The third one on Sunday was a doozy with the rain and wind coming from all directions.

Fancychooklady great photos of what sounds like a great day!

I have good news and not so good news. The good news, I finally know what is going on with my health and the not so good news, sometime in the next month I am going to be booked in to have an angiogram where they stick a tube in through your leg or wrist and feed it up to the heart, yada yada, sounds pleasant
hmm.png
and depending on that, may need to have my over 50% narrowed artery stented; also sounds pleasant
hmm.png

Worse case scenario, stent + overnight in hospital and 1 week’s total rest to recover or no stent, day stay only and not allowed to lift anything for a week because of the fact that the tube was inserted through the wrist. While I am no spring chicken, I am also not out to pasture and the doc even commented that this was unusual at my age. Anyways, all good, hopefully soon I will be good as new and it certainly is a relief to finally know what is going on.

Have you ever heard of chelation theropy?

It is a safe, non surgical way to clear the arteries. I know a number of people who have used it as an alternative or in my fathers case following angiograms that were ineffective. It works. Lady Celento was an advocate. I don't have any books on it anymore as they were loaned out and not returned. I can tell you how it changed my fathers life from very ill back to a fit man who at that time was 56 and out working his 25 year old men loading containers. Which after treatment he did for fun.

Most doctors will not tell you about the treatment and will advise against it. But others can demonstrate it has merit. I have names if you are interested.

Dr Google says a lot of bad and good.

Update on my broodies -

After reading a few posts this afternoon, Im glad to hear that other chickens are broody for longer than a week. Miss Polly is going on a week and a half now but seems to be staying out of the coop more and more. Miss Sybil however is walking around the back yard like a thanks giving turkey, all fluffed up and trying to be scary (which works on the dogs but not me LOL). Good news is that she is sleeping on her roost at night so the air can get to her belly. Im just glad they dont attempt to bite me when I chuck them out of the coop...

And well done moandmcgee on breaking your girl! I envy you right now
