Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Teila, CorrieW and Angela27 ....

Know now that more rain is predicted, and I so hope you are all not badly impacted by all this added downpour / flooding.

Glad to hear Teila ... that your hubby and your dog Jessie, are ok - but not much fun for you at this time, eh ?. That weather map is gross.

Any way you could bring your girls inside - just in case ? .... might mean a huge poopie mess to clean up afterwards ( preferably rehoused on tiles on a bathroom floor perhaps ) .... but that might be preferable to them getting drenched, or having a coop roof collapse on them - or whatever might happen in that torrential rain - and flooding, of which there is more to come. Where abouts are you Teila ( in that mess ) ?

I so feel for you.

Have been thinking of you all up there - and wondering a lot. Muttering 'poor chookies' as I watch the news up-grades on the situation there. At least you can walk upright and wade through flooding if you have to - chookies can't. I feel so much for the poor animals and birds up there - and now to happen in northern NSW ( from weather reports ).

Take care everyone -

And - cheers ~~ ( if that helps ) ....

... and, just like it never happened, it is calm as out there now and we are no longer in the eye. Reports from Caboolture are that it is calm up there so it looks like we are done, no winds on the other side! Thank goodness!

I am so happy for you. I hope the clean up is not too bad. We've been thinking of everyone in Qld and NSW. Stay safe

Hello fellow Aussies. I've just joined the forum although I've read bits and pieces here for years (since i first got chooks about 8 years ago). My inexperience with quails has made me stop lurking.

I'm NSW mid north coast, so avoiding the worst of this weather. We had considerable flooding here over a week ago so I hope this one passes us by and I can get enough sun to be able to finish building the quail enclosure.
I look forward to chatting.
Chelle.

Wondered if I had seen a big cockatoo fly off the other day or if it was a hawk. Guess this answers that question. :-(

He was sitting right up above the chook pen. The chooks were not interested in his dinner invitation and were all hiding inside.

White goshawk? He's actually quite pretty isnt he (as long as he's not eating anybody!)

It was looking that way, the clouds have rolled back in. It was weird though, all the sunshine. The winds were strong this morning though, I was afraid Beatrice would blow away lol. My chooks look cleaner too, which is a bonus. Well the did, until they started trying to dustbath in wet soil.

My pen floors are all soft mud, they'll need a week, likely longer to dry out properly. I will be shoveling gravel to prevent water running in later. At least the girls can go about their usual routine today.

I was in brissy at mums it was super heavy rain really bad wind. Finally got out of there and home to check my place at 11pm. Thankfully all ok here. Did anyone else feel the weird wind serges in the early hours of this morning.

Hello All

just joined the BYC crew and reading all these interesting posts. I'm in West Oz, down south in Dunsborough. I moved here from Perth 6 months ago and got myself 2 old bantams and a coop. I now have 3 bantams and 1 australorp, and 4 8 week olds - 3 full size and one blind bantam runt.

I've posted up the blind bantam in the blind chicken forum - have a read if you're interested, or can offer any advice :)
