Oh I forgot the other 8 having even starting pipping. I left the first on in the incubator just quickly took the bowl of water out in case it fell in it. But it seems to be doing fine. I'm just poking wet chux in and hoping that's enough for humidity. Its the dirtiest egg that's hatching now so my fingers are crossed. When this one has hatched and before the other hopefully pip I will take them out and put them in a brooder. Then the next learning curve starts.

I'm not keeping him moist just his yolk. Should I put him on dry cloth? I had him dry in a cup but the shell dried to his wing and he was really distressed by it so I had to moisten it and remove his shell. So the yolk is still intact not broken and he is laying curled up on dry paper towl with a little bit of damp paper towel just over the yolk. He is pretty dry and warm in the heat pad cave and I take him out every 30 min to check he isn't too hot. His sibling is right under there with him and doesn't seem too hot.

If you can pop it in a small box , the kind you get from shiploads , gift boxes. It should just shrivel up and drop off. You don't really want the others trampling or tearing the yolk away .

OK update!

He had absorbed all the yolk just a yucky blob of membrane left. He was kicking so violently and active that I was worried he would pull on his belly button. So I performed surgery. Dental floss tourniquet tied off tight and snipped with sterile scissors. I gave him electrolytes and applied bactroban ointment and he is back in to fluff up and warm up. I think he might just have a chance! I have been awake with him a full 24 hours now.

I think that's exactly what mine had but was still attached and had a little bit of yellow yolk in it??

Yeah looks to have absorbed the majority of the yolk.

Yay! Gosh I'm waiting with such anticipation to see if any more of yours pip. You did say no more have yet didn't you?

You can do as K Riggs has done and tie it off, but it will naturally drive out and drop off. It's just important not to pull or yank it out . When it falls out dab a little antiseptic on it and leave it.
