Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

I'm assisting the next one at 20 hrs since pip. It was no longer moving when I played peeping video. Yep membrane rock solid. It's resting and I'm waiting for the veins to recede now. No more have pipped and due date isn't till tomorrow. These were the three that pipped internally several days early. Now I have my humidity at 70 i'm hopeful when the next seven pip externally they will do a lot better.

One just hatched. My husband just suggested putting it in the spare incubator so its not mixing with the dirty eggs. I thought while the others haven't pipped (one has small crack) I would quickly get it and spray a quick spray of water.

Sounds like a plan, doesn't sound like its good to let it stay in with the bacteria after what Fancy said. Soooo pleased one hatched! I'm sure you will get more tomorrow. My one I'm assisting is peeping Soooo loudly! The one in the brooder can hear the one in the incubator they are peeping from another room they are talking to one another. I will be up all night watching this one's membranes. One vein still has blood the rest have all receeded now. It is so nerve wracking. I need emotional support I am so grateful to have you guys :love

I know just what you mean. This little one is all out of its shell except it feet and back side. I haven't taken it out of the incubator yet. Its so hard trying to make the right decision for all of them and not constantly second guessing myself.

I thought I had lost it myself, just by reading about chook nappies. :lau

Tonights' weather report in Victoria, showed some serious rain heading into Queensland ... so I sure hope it is cool rain - lots of it, and doesn't bring any humidity with it. Good luck.

Cheers -
Thanks anni. WE have had 60mm in 2 days. There is this stuff on the ground now that is starting to get a shade of green,, OH yeah it's grass thats right.

Gratz to everyone on their hatches and fingers crossed for those waiting for ones to still hatch.
We decided to venture down into nsw for the long weekend as hubbys sister has a place down there inland from byron bay. My neighbour 2 doors up rang me sunday morning to ask where my ducks were as she was feeding the animals for me.
Got home to find all my ducks gone.. Only one small pile of feathers and 7 chickens gone too.(Most of my pekins and a frizzle roo and a couple of others.) I have a feeling the neighbour above may have let their hunting dogs out at night but i have no proof of that . So bit sad for me as this is the first time in 14 years that i have had no ducks.

If you have to open the incubator just make it quick . If you've got a brooder set up just pop it in there with the heat lamp nice and low, as in height not temp. I wouldn't bother with spraying the quicker it dries out the better.
