Now he won't have a friend for days looks like he will be imprinting on me :(
I wish I knew the other needed help over night I thought it was too soon to assist.

I slipped the chux in. The temp didn't even move. Its sitting on 60% now but I still only have 1 pipping and it hasn't pipped anymore since last night. OOOOH I hate the waiting and not knowing if I've done everything right. My eggs are dirty and everyone says don't put dirty eggs in. Maybe I shouldn't have accepted dirty eggs. I don't know, I'm still second guessing everything.:barnie
I don't set dirty eggs. The humidity in the incubator is a perfect breeding ground for bacteria and the porous shell absorbs it. Mushy chicks disease (omphalitis ) is usually the result.

Me too now. The lady said she always hatched her eggs dirty and they were fine. If we both end up with very few or none I will ring her. I'm not sure whether to assist my little one it starting pipping at least 24 hours ago, it has pipped a slightly larger area now but its not open the air yet. I'm worried that my hygrometer is not working properly as I do have condensation on the corners. This is so stressful, even my husband is commenting on how much time I'm sitting and watching the eggs.
I hope your feeling better Fancy, I had a flu 3 weeks ago and I still haven't got my hearing back from the ear infection. Going for a CT today and hopefully they'll see what going on.

It's awful, I have one with a tiny pip overnight, nothing since I wouldn't be surprised if it is dried. I am considering trying to assist because the other 7 haven't pipped so there is not as much risk to them drying out.

The lady I got the incubator from just told me I shouldn't have followed the manual for ducks and my humidity was too low the whole time. Great.

Yeah that's what I read too. But it's really hard to keep the humidity up. I have 3 older hex type incubators that are manual turn. They have a big surface area for water evaporation. I might get some eggs from somewhere else and try again in a different incubator and only get clean eggs. I sent you the cleanest to give them the greater chance because of postage so you can imagine how dirty mine are.
