Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Lol yep sounds right… you should see my roosters jump over the dividing fence I’ve put up to save the grass from the ducks.. I’m not joking both feet in the air at the same time there like mini kangaroos 🤣🤣🤣 boing boing boing they go over the fencing 🤣🤣🤣
They're really adorable!! Fuzzy's babies are so different from MJ's!! And they look so damn cute like mini balls of fluff with their beards & sideburns!! 😻

My Cuckoo Marans are hatching!
Three so far, and two more piped. One of the ones with pips was rocking around, but now is not. Should I be concerned? Aso, the other one has piped on the wrong end, anyone know how long it should be before I start to see more progress there?

Congratulations! Welcome to the world of incubator hatching! There's a great article on assisted hatching on BYC which should be able to guide you through the process....good luck!

Its certainly more stressful! (but I was already thinking about what I would like to hatch next🤦‍♀️) Still no progress on those two, but I think they are just taking their time. And I have been doing some reading, but its so hard to know when its been too long.
There's something curious though, and that is two of the hatched chicks are blackish, as one would expect? But the other is yellow, so whats happening there?

😂😂😂 I know it can be so addictive! Don't worry you'll get the hang of things after a couple more hatches!

How long has it been? Shouldn't go on for more than 7-10 hours....

Yikes I imagined they should all look the same if they we're purebred. It may b possible u weren't given pures!!?? 🙀

Why don't u post a thread on the chick forum as I'm not familiar with Marans. All I know is that my hybrids are typically of different colors & patterns when they hatch but pures should generally not differ by much...

But the trouble is I don't really need any more chicks, but maybe that doesn't matter? :idunno

For the one on the wrong end, its only been around 4 or 5 hours, I think, which isan't that long as that would have been its internal pip, if it had been the right way round.
However, the other one was piped when I got up this morning, so I would have thought it would be getting there. I did take it out to see if I could see anything, and felt it moving around and heard it cheep, so its probably ok?

Thats what I thought, I think the seller did have hybrids as well, and maybe one got mixed up? I'm not really too worried, it came from a dark egg, so its at least part Marans, I think.

That should be ok so long as it's still cheeping ...give it time as it should normally zip by itself but if it's really quiet by late tonight u might need to intervene.

That's perfectly normal....it should break out by tonight

Send an email to the seller...By Australian consumer law you should get a refund as it's not what you've paid for...

So I guess I can give both of them until late tonight, and then think about helping if need be. Normally I would be more inclined to just leave them be, and if they can't hatch then they probably shouldn't, but with these being shipped I think they may have more problems that aren't their fault.

I'll wait for them all to hatch, and then I'll contact them. They have seemed very honest and helpful so far, so I'll see what they say.

Yup sounds good. Make sure u read up on the BYC article on assisted hatching ... u may need it for tonight. Good luck! How many have u got so far?
