I was crying all last night, I think it has finally hit me this morning. The kids and I already had all their names picked out, their new pens almost finished, I had my little bio-security measure in place, thousands of dollars down the drain which was not a good gamble being single mum.... I am just devastated. I was going to surprise you all in a week or so with my new Penedesencas, but now I get to go pick up my kids from their Dads/my ex's house to hear a big 'I told you so.' Nothing like a big kick in the guts when your already down..

Satay, so sorry about your Eggs :-\ that's a terrible feelin. The marans still could be ok. Mine were ok when nothing else in the incubator developed too. I wish we all lived closer. Could share birds easier. You could have my marans that I'm not keeping.

Yes I was meant to be getting Penedesencas....No money back I'm pretty sure that was all part of the risk. And if we do get leeway in the Supreme court it will most likely mean more money for new pathology and fighting the battle. I even just hope they can save some of them. At this point I would be happy with even one or two birds.

All those amazing birds being killed,,, I wish I didn't tell my daughter now, she is going to be so upset.

If they planned to shoot 4000 dogs being imported this would be national news and public opinion would surely affect how hard they would try to eliminate the risk other ways before resorting to a mass cull like this.

I'm not 100% sure on salmonella works, but they said the chick died....so how can the salmonella be passed on? I thought it traveled through egg or meat? and If the others are all clear then why are they to be killed?
