Yes,TinaK,the bantams are adorable. We have a little Yorkshire Terrier who is crash hot on killing sparrows,that somehow manage to get into pens,she is chasing them all around the pen(the sparrows)and the little guys just stand there and watch her,and even move out of her way! And yes,she knows the difference between sparrow and chickens! I think after Malays that they are the nicest little birds. Thanks for the name of the Malay breeder,there is an Ani-Trans run coming down here in June and I am looking to get a Malay rooster from somewhere,hopefully he will know of one for sale. I also am sorry to hear of your sheep,such a worry when animals are getting sick and you can't figure out what it is.

Satay - Don't you just love some renters??? We had a couple next door and their dog killed the little goat down the road and then came after mine,I had the animal control onto them the next day,and he told them if he ever heard of their dog killing anything else or even going after anything else he would shoot it no questions asked. They locked it up for a week after that and left it barking day and night(probably to annoy me!)Anyway it went somewhere else thank God. We ended up taking them to court to get them evicted. Now have lovely neighbours,she is as mad as me,animals and birds everywhere! Do you have a dog control person where you are? Anything that threatens my ducks or chickens is in SEVERE trouble!

Aparently we do but they only work on wednesday's (got to love a small town). I have spoken to the owner several times but he only cares about the rent they pay and nothing else so no point contacting him. All i can do is keep setting the trap and hope what ever it was comes back. Trust me wooklet if i catch them they will know about it.

I only have a cat problem here. A lady 3 doors up has been intent on feeding every cat- stray or owned for years now. I think its time to ring the council and get a cat cage again. There are two black and white males spending a lot of time in my back yard. One is very mangy looking- a stray- but the other look in good health but still has no collar. They will stalk the pigeons. I dont have my ducks out durring the day when I am not home at the moment- so I need to do something about this before I can start letting them roam all day again.

Part of owning a pet is being responsible for it- why people get a dog and let it roam and kill i just cant understand. Its hardly far to the animal - you cant blame it for what is instinct- but a responsible owner will ensure that they arent just allowed to wander all over the place.

Hi all! Anyone affected by the floods? I feel so sorry for all those affected, it would be awful. We are very lucky the house is on a high spot, we had over 12" of rain in a week!

I was planning on selling a bunch of birds at Nathalia Auction but the shed will be underwater at the moment so no way that will be going ahead.

My pens are horrid, after the second lot of heavy rain I had chooks wading in water up to their bellies so just dumped in a heap of new bedding to get them up out of the water. Now I'll have to clean that all out and it's not a job I'm looking forward too.

I'm very thankful that all the critters are fine, I know we could be so much worse off.

I have been watching news of the floods- here at home there are already huge cracks in the ground after the days of rain we had. Its really dried up fast down here.

I too am hoping that everyone has come through the floods o.k. it must have been heartbreaking for so many people.

Wooklet I have been taking photos today- I got one of the girls into the photo box- then realized the memory card was full. I burnt all the files to a disk and now have some room. I am so looking forward to you being on the mainland- so you can see some of these for yourself. Give me a few minutes and I will put up some pics of the girls.
