I can now breath a huge sigh of relief...auction over and no more for my Poultry club for another 6 months. The heat down here in Victoria was incredible over the weekend- and now we have flooding in some areas!!!

My yard looks a little more roomy now with about 30 ducks sold, prices were all over the place. 3 guinea fowl sold for $300 and some people took most of their birds home. Now at least I can look forward to Kyneton where I can enjoy the social side of things instead of running around all day fixing pens and helping people out.

I,m also looking forward to Kyneton!, it will be my very first auction,and could well be my last if I don't restrain myself. At least living in Tassie I have to worry about how to get them home-unless of course there are other Tasmanians there with cars and a little bit of room for some extra crates

I meant to post a couple of pictures,one of my new chicken coop and the other of the Chinese Crested,but haven't got round to getting the battery for the camera yet.

lol Wooklet... speaking of camera batteries I have had an issue with the video camera I sometimes use that belongs to my daughter. On Saturday getting ready for the auction I went in search of it- Opened up the " battery" slot and asked my daughter where it was... " Um mum... thats where the memory card goes- the battery is over there.. " Feeling silly I take out the battery and charge it.
Fast foward to grabbing the camera out of the car to take some footage at the auction...looks in " battery " slot to make sure I did put it back in.... and puts back the camera swearing at myself that I forgot to put the battery back in .... But them on Monday when looking for the battery at home- realised I stupidly looked in the memory card slot AGAIN!! Oh well- there will be other auctions to take footage at...

Loved the story of your video camera,sort of thing I seem to do all the time-strange how one gets a fixed idea about something!
Going shopping tomorrow,so will get the battery then. I know it is not chicken related but must take a video of the Chinese Crested and the Border Collie galloping around the paddock and put it on You Tube,I swear when the Chinese Crested runs she looks exactly like a miniature pony!
I sold five Malays today!Happy but like you,will be so sad to see them go,even though I know the home they are going to is the best. Their chickens are pets,and don't end up in the pot. My Malay chicks are my babies-I shall miss them

. Still,on the bright side that's money to spend on more!

Not you wooklet.. My bet is the weather...people are out sandbagging and moving birds to higher ground- this weather is crazy isnt it?? how are you fairing down your way?? Its been constant here all day- but with some recent very sad news it really fits my mood right now... so it was nice to come on here and see your gorgeous new avartar!!

I hadn't thought of the weather-you guys on the mainland are having a pretty hard time,I hope everyone is o.k.? For once Tassie is o.k.,just a dull grey day with a bit of drizzle. I can live with that.
I was so sad to read your bad news,I was reading aboaut him today,and he sounded like such a lovely person. 6 kids!! His poor wife. It's always a shock when it is someone you know and care for,makes you realise just how fragile life is for all of us. Again,so sorry for your loss .

Glad you like my new Avatar,that is Diego,my Malay rooster that I got from Justin (Anitrans) He looks terrifying,but like all Malays is a sweetheart.
How are your ducks enjoying the rain? John is going to start on a little duck house this week for the four of them. One I can lock them in at night and not worry about them,we've had a few feral cats around here - they are no more! - and I don't want them out at night.
How is everyone else coping with the weather? The rain has to stop soon or we'll ALL float away!

Nooo wooklet don't wish away the rain just yet! I am in south western vic (near heywood on the map

) and we had our first drops of rain in over a month today! We probably had 10 ml? (didn't check the rain gauge) but it was very nice and I'm sure the stock will appreciate a bit of green growth in the paddocks! I know I appreciated the rain in the tanks!

I'm off to my first Poultry auction ever tomorrow (Merino - VIC)!

I see you have your first coming up too wooklet! I'm just a bit excited. I am going with another local woman that I met on a FB chicken chat page who is very experienced in all things chicken & auction! It will be nice to have someone to answer my questions!

Speaking of auctions, I had better get going to bed! It's midnight already and I have to be up nice and early! Argh!

Hi Tina,and everyone! Nice to hear from you,I know how you feel,I have a complex about ending threads!
Sorry,I didn't mean to wish your rain away. Just goes to show,that what some people don't want others need desperately,and I really hope that some of the downpour flows onto you!
Hope you enjoy your auction,I'dm really looking forward to mine,looks like you have a good collection of feathered and furries as it is! Still,there's always room for more isn't there? I used to have Polish bantams,they are so cute,but Malays took my life over. Also had a staghound,he was a gorgeous boy,but not over endowed with brains! I couldn't have had him with all the chickens though,he was singled minded when it came to prey! Catch it,kill it and eat it!
Let us know what you bought today,I'd love to hear.
