Awww they're gorgeous! I looooove the feather pants and bearded silkies hehe
Was scratching over the shavings under the roost this morning and discovered a soft shelled egg. I believe they are common for pullets just started laying but ours have been laying a couple of months.
How do you know if its normal or they need more calcium?
Oh and that dead comb finally fell off tuppence. Its gone this morning.
Mine were laying for 5 months and I got one. Is this the first?
It's not unusual to get the occasional soft egg. If it becomes a regular thing, then I would up their calcium levels. Good for tuppence. Hopefully that is the end of that.
Thanks guys. Ill just wait and see then. Its the first time I've ever seen one.
I'm glad tuppence comb fell off. I'd actually reached a point where I was wondering when I could fit in a trip to the vet because she had started spending a lot of time just sitting on the roost as well. This morning she was up and out eating scratch when I threw like the others for the first time since she did it.
Awww so happy to hear Tuppence is up and about again
Good news apps
Glad all is well.
I picked up the Bator from post office and ran it for 2 hour trial as instructed and it purred.
But this morning the autistic son (6) says I'm going to see if chicks are hatching lol.
He will be worse than me waiting!
I haven't got my hydrometer yet of the eggs to go in it
Maybe make up something like those advent calendars where you mark off each day till Xmas arrives. But you could do each day till the chicks arrive.
That's a great idea
