Yes it was peaceful, he got bumble foot several months ago and has been a cripple since. I sensed something was up yesterday , so I sat with him and gave him good pat and cuddle. Laid him in the sun to warm his old bones while I made him a nice soft bed of grass clippings. And that is where I found him this morning, just looked like he was sleeping.

so sorry to hear about your rooster. Sounds like he went peacefully.

Only 5 days now, Satay. See, going in a flash. Mine are up to 7 days already. Just to make you feel better. I gave some to a young girl in Brisbane, she had never incubated before, and she got 7 out of 8, hatched Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. So, it's a breeze!!

Bantie babies are so cute. As are the bantie mamas.

lol my banite is in one of the separate cages off the main pen. There is a divider and wire in between them but the others still like to be stickybeaks lol

Only 5 days now, Satay. See, going in a flash. Mine are up to 7 days already. Just to make you feel better. I gave some to a young girl in Brisbane, she had never incubated before, and she got 7 out of 8, hatched Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. So, it's a breeze!!

So yesterday was a scary one!!
Let out my chickens (18weeks old) as usual at 5am .. As I was cleaning their coop ect I turned around and saw my black australorp hens going a little crazy and scratching her head ( as if there was a bug stuck on her face).. So I went over to help her get it off only to realize she had blood running down her face I picked her up and grabbed a towl and tried to find out what was happening! Turns out she has pulled off half of her comb :| and it was just dangling bleeding, a lot .. So I called the emergancy vets in my area and took her right in.. After being assessed and looked at, turns out it's going to need to be fully removed and stitched so my poor girl has been irritated and isolated till today, she will go in at 11am for a full comb removal

Has this ever happened to anyone before???

Luckily I took this photo 2 days ago, with her comb for the last time..

Oh your poor girl no I have never had that happen. I hope she has a speedy recovery.
