It can take 24 hours once they have pipped . The hardest thing is just doing nothing. Sit on your hands!

Lol yeah not easy but be patient mate. First pip is good.

Sorry for late reply rexy. 18 happy marans out. We got to 47c here today and of course missed all the storms. Spent most of the day keeping chickens cool. Even had to put frozen ice bottles in the brooder to cool them down. Now who would have thought that would happen. Supposed to be hotter tomorrow.

18 is a great result. Chickens everywhere at Satay's place. 47c is just awful. Good luck tomorrow. You might have to put the chickens in the bath to cool them. Mine coped alright except one who has a bit of a respiratory thing going on. I might have to bring her inside tomorrow. Rooster is going well today.

50 is all I'll ever own up to. I keep blue laced red Wyandotte , silver laced Wyandotte , gold laced Wyandotte , light sussex, coronation sussex, silkies and a few little bantam columbian Wyandotte . My last buff sussex died at Xmas and I'm thinking of selling the light sussex out. I have my eye on another breed. BLUE ORPINGTON , my they are pretty. Congrats on your hatch, hope everything is going well today.

Yeah the heat is for sure a bit extreme at the moment specially as i have a middle ear infection so heat plus fever is not fun. It's early still but 30c already.
