I'll be coming from Israel to Melbourne in March & doing some traveling in the next few months. If there's anywhere I'd like to live, it's Oz & my boyfriend is about to get sponsored for citizenship after 6 years there, so maybe things will work out for us )
It's such a pity that the government is so crazy about importing animals though. I have to give up all my birds & reptiles & even my dog is a nightmare to bring with. My horse is something I'm really stuck over as its requires payment of my first born child!!

It's not crazy, it's essential if we don't want all those diseases we currently are lucky enough to not have here.

Sorry you have to leave your pets behind though!!

I guess I just don't get why my dog has an 8 month quarantine for rabies but the birds can't come at all. Surely they can test for all these bird diseases. We don't even have many bird diseases over here & there already are Galahs & cockatiels so I won't be messing up the ecosystem or anything :-(
Thousands of animals were imported 50+ years ago without any nasty side effects.

dan can you buy these hens as pets or is their soul purpose for meat. You have to tell use more.

I have a friend that has one over here. She has to keep it in a cage covered and away from the sun so it doesn't get burned.. No offense meant but they(the breed) just seems so wrong to me. Each to their own though.

I will admit I do like them, but I don't like the idea of keeping them in a cage away in the dark, sounds nasty.

Got ANOTHER new Langshan today

. I'm starting to get a bit of a collection now.
She is by far my favourite at the moment, here feathers actually feel like silk, it's so nice.

Mine lives in an aquarium in the livingroom with a heat lamp. No different to my parrots. She scratches & dust bathes & lives very happily. I haven't updated the Gimpy thread because a feral cat got her & I'm very upset about it.
